0-4 and for the second time so far this season we go into a game with the same squad.

That doesn’t make any sense at all.

Even in our heyday we would make changes to the team to keep players honest and provide opportunity to prove their worth - keep their spot so to speak.

Change of change sake, when you have players who need to be tested at the highest level, who have shown enough to be drafted, who have trained for 5 months - when you haven’t won a game - absolutely change for change sake makes complete sense.

We are ordinary - a long way off finals, let’s be honest, play them this year - give them games - Serong as an example should be in the team, for the next 3 weeks, see what he has.

Selection during rebuild is critical to see what we have, what we don’t have and what players have got it.

Whether Box Hill played is irrelevant, the coaches know the talent - they need to be tested at the highest level.

This post contradicts itself.

“The coaches know the talent…give the kid Serong 3 games for example, back him in… but also make changes”

Seamus Mitchell sub tomorrow?
Possible but unlikely. His inclusion in the team is what finally allowed the flexibility to swing Hardwick forward.

Butler was quiet last week so would be my pick for sub from those named on the bench.

Likely Butler, unless Seamus pulled up a bit sore from his first game back in the seniors.

Great example of why I hate the sub rule and it should just be a flat 5 on the bench.
Both Butler and Hustwaite deserve some proper game time to work themselves into form. Hard to do when you play 1 quarter.

I feel confident for the first time in a while.

Wee baby Seamus gives us a lot of flexibility I feel.
Allows Dimma to go forward, Amon to push up onto a wing or Weddle to float in the attacking half.

Newcombe looked pissed off last week, and showed signs that he's back to his best. I'm hoping he isn't carrying something.

Yep no rhyme or reason to their decisions, like no MCG game this weekend?!
Is the ground injured Or just being managed.

Rolled an ankle!
General soreness. (probably too much fertiliser on a Wednesday night)

I'd say Butler.
Butler will be the sub.
Yesterday during some match simulation play, while Nash, Worpel and Duke looked on, Butsy was getting some time through the middle. Seamus starts as Dimma can be used forward from the get go if needed. His voice in the forward line was a huge difference maker post half time. According to Frosty, he doesn't shut up on the field.

Ridiculous comment. Jai was no where near our worst player round one.
Dogs are also doing quite well and I expect them to feature in September.
Personally I feel 99% of your comments are ridiculous so this is irony at its finest.

It’s an absolute dog of a rule.

What is even it’s purpose anymore now than it’s just a general purpose substitute instead of an injury sub?

5 on the bench, simple.

I cannot stress this enough. The team must now carry on the Collingwood game. Four quarters of tough, hard at it footy. Anything less is not acceptable. We must get that win.
I'd accept 3 quarters of hard footy and 1 quarter of firm footy. Maybe even 2 of each.

Agree, particularly when the sub can now be called for purely tactical reasons.

Makes no sense does it when you consider interchanges are capped anyway. Different story if it’s 2010 and the pies are running 180 interchanges a game. I do wonder if the AFL properly think things through sometimes
