Our entire 2017 team were mentally exhausted before they even stepped on the field Grandfinal Day.

Who's fault that is I don't know. They were told to soak up the week and enjoy it and they did it so well they had no energy left on grandfinal day.

I was there that day, I kept thinking it's ok we'll flick the switch soon and play like I know we can. Wasn't until half way through the last quarter that I realised we didn't have a shot to fire at all.

I disagree, we had our shot and it was in the first quarter.

6.1 instead of 4.3 and considering how Adelaide had played all year, you could just hand us the cup then and there. Once Richmond withstood that onslaught early (+ a couple of missed chances in the 2nd), our glass cannon of a forward structure broke, other issues surfaced (i.e. Jake Lever), and that was all she wrote.

If only McGovern and Greenwood were fit...

No. We were the in form team of the competition. We were the best team all year.
We were the best team for MOST of the year, Richmond finished half a game behind us in 3rd.

Richmond were a good team no doubt but I'm sorry, we were the best team that year aside from the grand final. Aside from a few stinkers (which Richmond had as well) we were destroying teams and finished top of the ladder nearly 20% ahead of the other top 4 sides

They were also playing on a ground they dominated on, and one we struggled on.

Our best performances were better than theirs, but as the ladder suggests they werent that far behind us. We underestimated them.

It had nothing to do with the power stance, or Criminal Minds..... they were just better.

I often wonder of the sliding doors phenomenon if Tigers played the Cats down at that shit hole in Geelong in Week 1.

Since Richmond lost those 4 games in a row early in the season they went 10-3. We went 8-4-1, including losing our last 2 games to hold on to top spot by percentage. In the last 7 weeks we were 4-2-1 and they were 6-1 including several beltings. Our finals were almost identical (one 6 goal win, one 10 goal thrashing).

They were generally in better form at the time, we should have been far more competitive and probably won but we were hardly a dominant force. We only won 15 games.

The thing about the power stance is it immediately flagged to the opposition we had an issue with mental toughness. If you need a gimmick to project strength, it's a clear weakness.
Like it did in the two preceding finals?

That press conference sums up the Pyke/Burton era to me. Utterly shambolic.
True.
How anyone at the footy club could see that and not immediately demand change is beyond me. If you were on the board, or in any position of influence, and thought 'that's ok', then you should have also been removed from the club. It was utterly disgraceful and one of the darkest moments our club has had.
