You're right, it could have been a unified approach against the VFL, and the more the 8 non-Vic clubs work together the better.

However it's not an attractive offer to say "here's a crappy deal we signed in 2007, wanna join us?"

The non-VFL clubs need to work out how they can collaborate more often.

Port Adelaide boss Keith Thomas has admitted to some discomfort but remained confident his club had made the right call in removing Phil Walsh's name from the Showdown Medal that was played last July in the late coach's honour.

We'll publically support Port's bid for the showdowns to have "heritage round" status and in exchange they will agree to name the showdown medal the "Phil Walsh" medal.

I was going to like this but then thought we shouldn't have to give up anything to get the medal named after walsh. That was the most disgraceful and disrespectful bit of small mindedness from a piss weak club with no soul

I don’t understand why anyone would want to back up Port in this farce. They’ve a long track record of f**king over anyone they can to get what they want.
Stabbing the SANFL in the back in 1990.
Draft tampering even before entering the AFL.
Lying to Port Magpie members that they’d never be turned into a Power Reserves team under the One Club proposal.
Secret dealings with the AFL and SACA over Adelaide Oval.....where was the goodwill towards AFC then?
Shit, they even f**cked over David Granger after they asked him to go the biff in a final.
Help them now and they’ll f*ck you later all while splurting how much heavy lifting they do.

Also wasn't this monstrosity their original guernsey? If they care so much about history, why don't they wear this instead?

Damn good post. Sad post too.

Cant believe its been 5 years, feels like yesterday.

I never knew the guy obviously, but I mourned a lot. I saw my Club, break down. Sure it healed over time, but this hurt so much.

The medal still should be named after him, Im sure years from now, when those feral bandwagon supporters disappear, they will regret the decisions made by the PAFC in 2015.

Whilst I enjoy a pear pile on as much as the next person on this forum. Eddie and the AFL stance speaks volumes of how we are still a vfl competition. Collingwood are impacted in no way by allowing this . I also can’t believe that the AFL took so long to tell port. Non Victorian clubs are treated as second class citizens. I appreciate my view is unlikely to be popular with others here though.
