Sorry mate I was more thinking of my situation last year when I was trying to get Lloyd in and every time he made his BE. I think Neale will drop for sure and Lloyd probably will as well a bit but you really are starting behind without him at D1 IMO.

+1.

Got sick of trying to chase Lloyd every week. I’m starting him this year

Not really as I'll have fewer rookie scores on-field by not paying overs for SPs. In theory at least I'll score more combined on-field points by not starting him. I had a much different experience to you not starting Lloyd last year. He was averaging 110 when I bought him in Rd8 for 585k (- 11k) so didn't pay any extra. He averaged 130.7 in my team from Rds 8-18 though. So as far as I'm concerned I bought him in at just the right time. My undervalued starting D1 last year Sicily cost only 509k and was averaging 112 after the first 8 rounds & my D2 Doch was averaging 106 and my D3 Howe 431k was averaging 120 before unfortunately getting injured before I sidewaysed to Ridley who also averaged 100+ for the season. So not having Lloyd for the first 7 rounds didn't hurt me scoring wise because I started with fewer rookies on-field which in turn allowed me to complete my team early. It's very difficult to upgrade all on-field rookies quickly when you start with 650k defender, 720k mid as well as 750k and 650k rucks. Somethings got to give.

Yes my team turned to :poo: at the start of Round 2 I actually started with Gawn and Grundy but stupidly after before Round 2 I traded OUT Gawn because he had a low score in R1 and Naismith got 121. In my defence I actually did this while there was no footy for a couple of months and when R2 started again I was working and didn't get to do my proper trades. So Gawn gets 184 and Naismith is injured:mad: That round killed me a couple of other players didn't play and I went from about 6000th R1 to 71000 after R2 then R3 Bombers/Demons game was cancelled and I had about 5 players from both so I couldn't even get Gawn back in so I got Jacobs only for him to get injured that game:mad: Do you see where this is going? Anyway I somehow managed to get my team to finish 18,584

Yeah, but I'm not looking to replace Lloyd in my starting team with a 250-300k crab though. I'm still looking to start a top6 defender in his place whilst saving 100-150k. Eg Stewart, McDonald, Docherty. Same goes with with Neale by saving 60-100k by starting with an Oliver/Macrae/Mitchell at M1. That's saving 160-250k on 2 starting premo's that I'll be bringing in by Rd7-8 for 100-150k less than their combined starting price.

So what is your thinking with the Forwards? Danger is injured, Sidebottom overpriced so who do you go for F1?

GnR vs MPM

Daniel + rookie + Walsh + rookie + Dunkley + rookie
vs
Harmes + Milera + Heppell + Hately + Phillips + Rankine

Depends how highly you value trades
Mpm suits aggressive traders
Guns n rookies suits patient guys

Ive always been aggressive with my trading and I’m changing Strategies at the start of this year by starting premos who’ll more likely then not play all 22 games.

If a few of those mid pricers become keepers harmes/Heppell highest potential imo I’d go the mid pricers. You’ll score better and get a better rank at the start of the year with that option

MPM all day there, i think they win on point difference, unless you think there are some rookies that will average 70+

Oliver + McDonald (or Short)

V

Lloyd and one of Simpkin, Rowell, Taranto, Cerra etc
this is actually one of the toughest comparisons in this thread - really comes down to whether you value Oliver or Lloyd more, and for me the question then becomes whether you value Lloyds points from Round 1, or whether you believe you can get him cheaper later on and the points scored are offset by whatever structure your running with.

Personally, I have looked for value in my starting teams, but wanting to do something different this year and get in those top line players (Lloyd, Neale, Oliver, Gawn, Grundy).

I'm really struggling to decide. Towards the end of last season i said i'm never not starting Lloyd again, but i cant help but feel like supercoach returning to normal quarters will lower his score. For what it's worth i could go Lloyd and Oliver and ditch Macrae.

I have both Oliver and Lloyd, but if it was a choice between the two I would go Oliver.
Taking structure out of it, I have him being more likely to hit that 2020 average again.

So with Rookie concerns and No Thursday teams now I'm thinking more midpricers.
How does this sound?

Macrae/Petracca/Bergman ----- Dunkley/Hatley/Marshall
