No idea what to do with Laird.

Which 3 out of Laird vs Stewart vs Daniel vs Short?

Which 2 out of Steele vs Oliver vs Laird (in midfield)

Do I just not pick Laird at all and go for the other options?

Depends on your structure JM. If you already have 4 Def premo's + JClark then you can get away with not having Laird in the Mids and put a SP mid there. If you have a rookie at D5 instead of Clark, then you should probably have Laird in the Mids in case your looped D7 E score is unacceptable. This is all assuming you think JClark has JS if you don't then probably best to start Laird in the mids just in case or pick a Def mid-pricer that you don't have to worry about being dropped.

Defensive mid-pricer: Jiath vs Hayden Young?

Caldwell vs Tyson?

Note: the money I save on Caldwell down to Tyson could be used for:

Dan Houston —> Caleb Daniel
or
Grundy —> Gawn

Duggan v Houston
Depend if you buy the distributors for defence are going to get a SuperCoach boost from the new rules hype.

If you think yes, the ball users in defence are going to be advantaged under the new rules you take Houston.

If you think there’s not much in it and so defenders who get mid time are advantaged you take Duggan.

Dusty vs Butters/Taranto/De Goey/Phillips and cash to spend on better cows and the rest banked for future
Jesus. I’ve rather four premos over one wannabe premo anyday

Got a similar chain of thought...

Rowell and Hunter Clark vs Short and Taranto?

I have Lloyd, Daniel, Stewart, Short, Young, Clark up back and Steele, Oliver, Macrae and Merrett in the mids.

I do like the idea of Laird in the mids in case Clark gets dropped but then have no idea which SP mid to get rid of.

You don't need Laird imo. Your Def bats to 6 and your Mid quartet is elite.

Taranto + Impey*
vs
Dusty + Fullarton**

*or Dow
**or somebody else similarly priced that's not Warner, Bergman, Jones and Rowe

Also, if you don't have Gawn, delete your team and start again

Caldwell. I really can't see Tyson getting many games.

My team's about set. Just unsure as to the following ....

Laird and rookie Vs Clark and Philips

Laird would give me 5 premo backs and a structure of 13-1-8 while Clark and Philips would make that structure 12-3-7

I don’t mind the Clark (Geel) and Phillips (Hawth) option, but having said that I do have Laird.

A couple of time in recent years when I’ve gone a more guns and rookies approach I feel like I’ve got blown away in the early rounds because of dud rookies on field, and while I did make up ground on the field after the bye, I wasn’t making it up fast enough. Adding a couple of extra midpricers myself this year.
