With lockdown in Vic. Time to get a SC team going for 2021.
Hopefully Danger lines up Rd 1, sitting at M3 as cover for the weakest line being forward.
Watching Witherden role, but happy if he becomes D6.

I'd be interested what folks think. I've been playing SC for a few years and managed to learn SFA. Rarely finished above 20,000. Don't think I've had a first round in the top 10,000. But this year is gonna be different..... I'm concentrating this time. Rookies are a complete guess so far. I like the theory about getting points from Jelly early and dumping him at the first sign of a fetlock. Not sure about Harmes or Daniher. Still have $220k with a plan to shift Preuss to Grundy at around $450k. Will most likely change this team a dozen times between now and my next beer.

It's going to be embarrassing for you to be smashed by my crap MPM team in multiple leagues again. :D
If you are gonna go different, then you have to let Gawn go too - now where have I seen this before :p

Starting with all 4 of Rowell, Cerra, Taranto & LDU is taking too many unnecessary risks on that line imo. One or two mid SP breakout contenders is fine, but with JKelly at M2 you really only have 1 sure thing SP Mid. Then you have Howe, Harmes, ZW, Preuss, JoeD who all carry an element of risk which leaves you with only 6 safe picks. Cookie cutter picks may be boring, but they're popular for a reason.

Thanks guys for taking the time. I'm looking at a straight swap to a less risky position
Howe -> Ryan
Jelly -> Fyfe
Cerra -> Cripps
Taranto -> Lyons
LDU - Walsh

Feels slightly more secure in D for sure. But now there's no $$ for Grundy upgrade. I'm trying to stay hard on 6 rookies. Either way, there's a dozen different way I can **** this up in the next 6 weeks or so.

Jelly to Fyfe is six of one half a dozen of the other as far as durability goes. With those changes you've now overspent in the Mids. Batting right down to a 500k M6 makes your side very unbalanced.

Consider a partial downgrade on Taranto/LDU > Heppell (who should score similar) which would give you enough bank $ to do Preuss > Grundy or if you're intent on starting a mid-priced stepping stone R2, consider upgrading your F5 to a Ziebell or similar stepping-stone instead of starting rookie small forwards on-field.

Also something else worth noting, 8x 102k non-playing bench rookies is unrealistic. It gives you a false impression of how much bank $$ you actually have left over. I understand we don't know which rookies will play at this stage, however, all those bench placeholders should be filled with 123k rookies and 1 or 2 of your 117k on-field rookies should be replaced with expensive 150k+ rooks. That way when the Rd1 team lists drop, you won't be frantically rejigging your entire squad at the last minute.

Keen to get some thoughts on my current team.

Gone with 3 risky options FWD but still thinking maybe downgrading a 1 of Zieball, Daniher or Impey to 117k rook and then turning say Zieball to a Heeney Toby Greene type.

Dusty and Laird in the mids with every intention of moving them back and Fwd when I can make upgrades.. Does my midfield look too light on? Im pretty happy with my Def.

Cheers.

Looks good to me except no Neale.

Yeah I've tried to fit neale in but without sacrificing massively on other lines it's proving a bit difficult.

The one thing I can do is downgrade heppell to will Phillips depending on how he goes in pre season games and then trade Titch to neale.

Neale most likely to get Hewitt tag in Rd 1 also which sways me away a little bit.. But if Hewitt doesn't tag neale or neale breaks the tag it's going to be awfully hard to get him in.

Me. ^^

A downgrade to Heppell leaves me with 170k to sort out the $102k rookies, or maybe Grundy at some point.

I hope this doesn't come across as too condescending, but without knowing your level of experience...it's crucial that you make sure that all of your bench rookies are named for Rd1 with the exception of 1 cheap loophole doughnut, preferably at R3. And if by some miracle we get more than enough Rd1 rookies, you need to research which of those named Rd1 rookies have the best team roles and JS. Because without sufficient early cash generation you're destined for another 20k finish no matter how good your starting 22 is, as you won't fully upgrade your starting 22 quickly enough to keep up with the better organized teams.

Good changes, keep tinkering till your gut says you're happy

You're basically saying Docherty will outscore a Jye Simpkin type and Laird will outscore a Wines type,
Both gutsy calls imho
