Tom Morris is saying we are sniffing around Jack Gunstan.

First I've heard of it. If we are having a crack at Maynard, we are going to need to give someone up here soon.

Brayshaw would be the logical one, but with several players tipped to retire, I still hear our books aren't as tight as suggested.

It won't happen, but whispers are Freo are offering cerra and picks for Luke Jackson.

Freo would have to give us Cerra and two top ten picks at least. Can't see it happening ever

Freo can **** right off, No way would I give up Jackson for that.

If we could only get one of Gunston or Maynard who would people be taking?

Yeah this is a really bizarre call.

The last few weeks he's kicked 2, 4, 3, 2, 2 as well as assisting a goal a game over the past 3 weeks.

If you wanted him to kick 6 every week, get out your time machine and get back in the 90s.

Well you sort of shot yourself in the foot with your last sentence and it sort of backed up my own argument right there. He isn't getting any younger. And he has been serviceable the last 5 weeks but nothing to write home about, especially for a top of the ladder team. If you look at the other teams in the top 8, Port has Dixon, Geelong have Hawkins, Sydney have Buddy, Bris has Daniher and Dogs have Naughton. Brown is well beneath these guys and is probably below Peter Wright from the Dons also.

They can give us Cerra, Fyfe, Darcy and their first and it’d still be unders

Maynard

Yes, exactly what I am saying. He is the easiest of our forwards to shut out, in finals games. He is the one they will put work into.
Why don’t we see what happens during the finals before we make this call?

Tom Morris also mentioned that we definitely looked at Cerra as a option but just don't have the draft capital.

Makes me wonder if we'll still be on the lookout for another mid that can come in and add a different element to our midfield mix.

Certa would have been the perfect foil alongside Petracca, Oliver and Viney.

Say we did get Gunston, who does he replace?

ANB Tmac Fritsch
Jackson BBrown Pickitt
Spargo

You'd think it would be ANB or spargo on paper but then what happens with pressure. I'd love Gunston here and he would be automatic best 22 but shuffling that forward line around will be tough. Good problem though

Gunston would be a great addition. And much needed. I'm glad the footy club agree with me and not with others who got really defensive when I said our forward line needed bolstering.
I think most people disagreed when you said Brown isn’t what we hoped he would be. He has been great over the last 6 weeks, and he’d be even better coming off a full preseason which hopefully we can get into him next season. He’s averaged 2.3 goals a game over the last 6 weeks, if he can get a good run at it next season he’ll be everything we hoped for.

That’s what I’m thinking, We’re tall with Brown, Tmac, Jackson and Fritsch. And then Weid is sitting in the wings at the moment aswell.

Could Gunston play on a wing rather than Brayshaw? I feel likes he's had a few stints there and been solid.
between he and tmac you've probably got a decent wingman

I think he would replace TMac tbh

Gunston is a strange target imo. Of all our needs, I don’t think a third tall is that pressing.

He was a gun back in the day but hasn’t played in almost a year and is 30. Unless he’s just about coming for free, it’s a pass imo.

Goal kicking accuracy. When you're the worst goal kicking accuracy team in the comp then you need guys that are accurate. Gunston is one of those guys.

I don't think you can just eradicate his bad games and put it down to no pre-season. He was playing vfl but couldn't crack the team. Weideman was playing better footy. When Brown finally came in he was ready but stunk it up for several games. I agree he's been better the last 5 weeks but I'd certainly hope so. When you offer a guy a 4 year contract you certainly want them to be playing great footy in year 1.
