Lol how would trading away a good young ruck so we can’t drop our 29yr old ruck being against change?
I will premise this by saying I’ve seen a lot more of the SANFL live than AFL this year but I can’t fathom how Hayes isn’t playing AFL. I know you guys have a good list but surely you find a way for this bloke to play. He would be a walk up start in probably nearly every other side in the comp, you have a absolute ripper thereHe led the Sanfl in hitouts this year didn't he? He's an excellent tap ruckman isn't he? Not sure what more he can do.
He has a long way to go to be as fit as Nathan Krakouer or Dylan WilliamsHe led the Sanfl in hitouts this year didn't he? He's an excellent tap ruckman isn't he? Not sure what more he can do.

Does this Dawson play midfield?
We used him everywhere except the ruck. Intercepting tall defender, rebounding defender, wing, high half forward, deep medium forward. Inside mid was where he played in the NEAFL and put up some absolutely absurd stats, though it is NEAFL to be fair. His best footy for us this year was as a wing as his kicking was essentially the catalyst to our inside switching game plan.
Can play anywhere you need him but if he's outside of the backline he probably needs the team around him to be decent to get the most out of him, which you have covered much more than the Crows obviously.
Personally if we are trading Dawson to you, I want Marshall in return and some pick shenanigans.
Marshall and pick 17. Done in a heartbeat. Good outcome for both clubs. We used him everywhere except the ruck. Wouldn't Clurey make more sense for both clubs than Marshall? We used him everywhere except the ruck. Intercepting tall defender, rebounding defender, wing, high half forward, deep medium forward. If we can get it done for not a whole lot I don't think it's necessarily one or the other. Why do we need an icing on the cake kinda player in Dawson? we need genuine mids, let dawson go to Crows, he will not be able to do much damage at all there.
If we can get it done for not a whole lot I don't think it's necessarily one or the other.
I can't see how we pick up an elite mid anyway. We have much more of a chance of getting Pep, Houston and Drew to a higher level than somehow convincing a Merrett type to come across.
Yeah I'm not convinced we would need to give up Marshall to get him. I guess that's the bit where we disagree. But if it costs our first pick PLUS a KPF like Marshall it's not worth i for an outside player. Dees have invested in the draft for way too long, so have the Dogs. Petracca/Viney/Oliver/Gawn and Libba/Macrae/Dunkley/Bont etc. What i am suggesting is we should look at a pick upgrade and go for a genuine midfielder. Like Houston+Ladhams+Our first for Gold coasts first or even GWS first. They need more ready-made players, so they will entertain us. They don't really need more picks, while we do.

Sydney are a very good club to deal with - see AAAA
I think giving up Houston + Ladhams + our first for a higher draft pick would a shockingly bad move too. We need guys in the 23-25 range, not 18 year olds.
Personally I wouldn't but I think its pretty clear from your posts that I rate Houston a lot higher than you do.I agree it depends on the price but i am not willing to give up pick 17. Would you do Houston for Dawson? Both similar age bracket, both outside players. If we are going to lose Houston, i would do a straight swap for Dawson, not sure Sydney will agree to that though.
What i am suggesting is getting someone like Horne will set us up for the next 15 years. Chances of Horne ending up as a spud is really small. We played bold to get Rozee, we need to be bold agaim, Horne is like Walsh, plug and play.

Horne would be the exception to my post above around getting an 18 yo, but I don't think there is any chance we can get Horne at this stage. Our only chance is that he bails on the Kangaroos and that we are the club he picks in a few years time (certainly possible).
Because Sydney is the only somewhat likeable and respectable club in the league outside of our own, so I guess that's reflected in their supporter base. Why is it that Sydney supporters can post on here in such a fair and open manner yet pretty much all other clubs become Dodoro's?
None of us can figure it out either. Even moreso the lack of acknowledgment from our senior and assistant coaches about how good he actually is. The only Port official I’ve heard praise Sam Hayes is Chris Davies.I will premise this by saying I’ve seen a lot more of the SANFL live than AFL this year but I can’t fathom how Hayes isn’t playing AFL.
