No. He is one of the worst kicks in the competition and can't run!

I think that’s harsh on him. After all he’s only played 25 career games as a top rated draft pick and for the Suns of all teams. With a good midfield around him I think he could be very solid for what we’d pay for him.

In the few games he’s been given over the past few years, he’s rated elite in centre clearances and above average in tackles, pressure acts, stoppage clearances and disposals.

His career disposal efficiency is at 65% which isn’t the worst when many inside Mids are low. For comparisons, Petraccas DE was 62% this year. Inside midfielders usually all have lower DEs as they get the clearances under pressure.

Brodie regularly gets 25+ disposals when he’s played at AFL level and seems to always rank up the touches in the reserves weekly. Get him into a good set up and he could be great for what we would pay for him.

All these suggestions of which possible midfielders we could possibly trade in leave me cold. I’d rather go ballsy and let rip with Butters, Rozee, Duursma in the middle to support Wines and Drew. I would back them to learn the trade quickly even if it meant being wiped by Petracca, Oliver, Bont etc on the first few occasions. I reckon they would be smart enough footballers to learn what was needed to get to the level.
Yeah but thay might put Ken's job at risk

Brodie has only played 25 games in five years as a ready made mid for the worst team in the competition. Gold Coast are literally trying to get delisted Dunstan to replace him. In his best year 2019 he had the second worst kick rating of the top 70 midfielders. He has very low metres gained. He gets his possessions in clearances. He can't spread as he has no tank. He doesn't average anything like 25 possessions per game. He is on 400k next year and has been shopped around for two years with no takers. If he didn't have a contract for next year he would be delisted and piggy up the vfl!

How does he not fit in his plan? We went with two rucks for most of the year.

It’s not a football thing, Kenny’s building his own version of BoysTown.
Guys like Ladhams and SPP don’t fit that mold.

If you actually look over his career games he’s had a number of games above and bordering 25 disposals which is what I said. Never said he averaged 25 over his career. He’s also had a few issues with hammies or a couple injuries from memory in his early years.

In 2018 (8 games), he had games with 27,27 and 24 disposals. After 3 games in his debut year in 2017.

In 2019 (8 games), games with 29, 26, 24 and 23 disposals.

In 13/25 games he’s gone above 20 disposals and 4 of those above 25 (5 other games with 23 or 24). So he regularly gets around that 25 mark and that was mainly from games in which he was a 19/20 year old playing for the Suns and building his body to cope with AFL footy.

He knows how to find the ball and I’d rather him getting it in clearances and being first to the ball than the opposition. We don’t need an outside spreader or him to be a deadly kick. He rates elite in stoppages and gets his hands to the ball first. That’s all we need from a player like him as he flicks it out to our other mids. Better than the opposition getting the ball 25 times if he can get it first.

Just have to look at his VFL stats to see he knows how to get the ball. This year he had games with 30,31,26,32,22,35,41,28 and 32. 9 games with his lowest tally 22 and multiple 30+ is solid.

And 2019 in the NEAFL, 26,27,34,30,38,42.

And 2018, 31,32,28,22,34,31,26,23.

He’s a ball magnet. Yes 2018/19 is a few years ago but with the comp cancelled in 2020 and again remembering he was getting these stats as a 20yr old is very impressive. He doesn’t need to be a Brownlow medalist but I think he’s worth a shot.

Brodie has averaged 17.7 disposals as an inside mid over his five years at afl level. He's averaged 7.5 kicks per game. They aren't damaging disposals. He is very lowly rated according to numbers and Gold Ciast have been unable to off load him... Anyway, I dont know why spp plays his stupid link forward pressure role that doesn't suit him. He needs some decent mid time if he's going to be a player. Bergman is an athlete who should be more suited in that hybrid forward role?

This is the same coach who didn’t rate Peter Wright or Jarred Lyons.

As with the Wingard trade, actively looking to move a player on is never going to enhance their trade value. We have little bargaining position here and will have to take what we can get.
But we got good value from that, I actually think we did better.

Ladhams also monstered Sean Darcy when we played Freo - a lot of underrating of a young ruckman that has played about 30 games
I love when people make shit up to just try and prove their point. Ladhams didn’t monster anyone. He got slaughtered by Grundy and most certainly didn’t monster Darcy. He played a good game, but it wasn’t his ruck work. He finished with only 21 hit outs that game. That is not “monstering”.

Im not fussed either way if we trade Ladhams. If we can get something good in return, go for it. As always, so much overrating of our players come trade time. Especially from the same people that bag these players all season. The guys ruck work is sub par and he can’t take a mark to save himself. He has the biggest set of concrete hands in the AFL right now.

People need to stop getting so scared of trading our own players. We have 3 solid rucks on our list. The club clearly sees Hayes as the future. We also have 3 tall forwards that need to play. It’s just not possible to fit them all in. Cash in one of them, it’s smart business. If you can get a first 22 player or first round pick in return, from a guy who was a rookie listed pick, you have done great.

His ruck physicality is not his 1 wood it’s the complementary assets he has to go with one of the types as we seen in the GF.

I just don’t see a Ladhams/ Hayes combo having the same up side.

We have 3 solid rucks! One is an ageing warhorse that consistently does not show up in big games, the second has never fired a shot in anger on an AFL ground, and you're looking to ship out the third because he was "monstered" by the highest paid and arguably best ruckman in the AFL in what i think was his debut as first ruck. And go back and watch the Collingwood game - Ladhams was destroyed in the first but his fightback over the next 3 quarters was damm impressive and was a critical factor in us winning that game. He is 30 games in - he finds the ball, he can kick goals, and his ruck work has improved a heap over the course of the season. And if we are looking to ship him out how poor is our list management that we did not even take the opportunity to look at Hayes. Baffling

Wouldn’t be against flicking Ladhams for Ballard from the Suns.

Our need for another key defender far outweighs the need for a second ruck.

I would love to snare Ballard but he’s signed a long contract at gcs. They’ll hold onto him for dear life.

He’s also not so much a key defender as what you’re probably thinking. He’s a tall flanker, 3rd or 4th tall.
