On the Hawk Talk podcast they mentioned that Impey was a no show at the AGM because he re-injured his shoulder. From memory he was walking laps at the last training session. Any insight?

I mentioned that he’d got smashed in a tackle during some match sim. Not sure if it was very serious, just knew that he was sore.

Anyone know why his partner still lives in WA? I get it for a year if the person was finishing off a degree, etc, but doesn't seem very sustainable... ?

As babies, twins are bloody hard work. Mum (or Dad) can't do it alone at night, and Tyler can't sustain repeated sleepless nights, due to his job. She is also pretty young. She needs her Mum.

After a year or so twins are much, much easier, they have each other.

In my experience it would be a surprise if they chose to move unless they desperately wanted out of WA or family agreed to come with them. If that’s the case expect we talk early to the WA teams and get the best deal we can and send him where he needs to be.

I feel for the kid ... We went through it during my navy career - better for mum and kids to be stable at home with support than trekking across the country into what feels like no-mans land. We need to get him home as often as is reasonable so that he can concentrate fully when he is back at the club. Dependent on his maturity/outlook this could work really well, or be a dismal failure.

If it starts to look like the latter then best for all parties that we trade him back home and get the best back that we can.

It's actually quite a headscratcher that he stayed, and signed for another year, to be honest...

Trade season just gone would have been to obvious time to go.

No offers? Questions would have been asked about his commitment given the circumstances including the recovery from injury. If he plays this year offers will come

If Tyler is smart, he'll play as best as he can this year. If not, he may not get offers from the WA clubs. I hope he stays but we have a few young guys fighting for his spot so no great drama.

Perhaps at the top of the list, will we treat/play him like he's at Hawthorn for the long term? You'd have to presume Sam & Hawthorn know (thereabouts) Tyler's intentions post 2023.

Hypothetically, if he was looking to stay in Perth we may be looking to get him on the park to increase his trade currency?

Ideally he stays and develops from his first season form which was really promising.

Unless he really turns it on this year, we wouldn't get much for him in a trade. Interesting that the Weagles wanted him but drafted Isiah Winder when we snaffled Brockman. With Isiah Winder being re-rookied and Willie Rioli gone, you would think that there is a spot for him.

I understand the club has arranged for Tyler to live in a house in very close proximity to Waverley Park so he can best support his partner looking after their twins. Further it has been proposed that his partner's mother will move to Melbourne to live with the family. The club is supporting Tyler to give him the best opportunity to fulfil his potential playing in the AFL.

İf Tyler wanted to leave he would have, eagles would have snapped him up for next to nothing, so, reality is, the young man obviously wants to stay on at Hawthorn to make it work and we're doing our best to help him on that regard.
İf he has a breakout year, it's a win win , he stays on and becomes a lifer at Hawks or worst case scenario is that he gets to WA but we demand a good draft hand for him.

Moves beautifully and hard to find a better kicking technique. One of those players that if he gets it 6 times could easily snag 3!

One would think he would play as best as he can regardless of any future plans.

Call me naive, but I would say every player on an AFL list tries to play at their best at all times.

Good points and on his kicking his almost effortless but deadly kicking for goal reminds me very much of watching Mark Williams. Williams 2.0 without the injuries I will have some of that!

Sorry to intrude. Asking for fantasy purposes, but is there a chance CMac gets used a lot in the middle? Seen his junior stuff, he has no business on a wing or HF, he's a natural inside mid. Reads it at stoppage really well, wins clearances, tackles and pressures hard, runs all day. Got a handful of CBAs for you guys and kept getting his hands on it in 2022.
