interesting comment from Swans board....

"Rumour is we're close to getting Carlton's pick 10. Seems it's something like pick 10 & F2nd for pick 14&17"
Works for Swans if they want a Jefferson or Buss before Melb/Dogs picks.

Pick 14 means we’re not necessarily welded to Hollands. Pick 17 in exchange for 30ish next year is a good deal.

I wouldn‘t be against putting our F1 and this year’s first (as a starting point) on the table for Dodo’s first this year for Bailey Humphrey. Would be my preferred route.

If Dodo isn’t willing, I’d also be open to trading for two teen picks to nab a couple of Cowan, Konstanty, Hewett, George, Allan.

Hollands looks good enough and is the most likely outcome, and could really give us a POD with he and Walsh running up and down the ground playing inside/outside. I’m a little scarred by the LOB selection, though he is purely outside so not like for like.

I also think we’re being assessed inaccurately. Our issue is less outside endurance players and more so inside/outside power runners and line-breakers. Hence my interest in Humphrey, Cowan etc. Trading down, we could really sort out our major deficiencies with two of the above group.

At least the prospect of pick trades has introduced an air of uncertainty into the draft for us.

If we are considering doing this, it shows that we aren't rusted on to one player. We like others too, but know we will be reaching at 10. Hotton and Hewitt would be nice.

It also shows that if we keep 10 and a slider comes, we may still consider them.

It's a trade that'd work for both clubs. Swans have an academy kid in next year's draft named Caiden Cleary who's stocks are apparently rising - so they need the points. Also gives them access to Jefferson/Busslinger this year if they're going tall which seems to be the consensus on their board.

I'd be pretty confident though that Hollands would still be on the board at #14 - Dogs the only possible threat, but I also reckon they'd be looking tall given they just lost Cordy/Schache and brought in a 32yo Jones as a stop gap.

I'd love to jag George at #17 though. Exactly the type we need up forward.

I think Dees could take him too. For him to slide to 14 (15) means Busslinger, Jefferson, Allen AND 1 more player go ahead of him. It's possible, not sure it's likely though.

Yep.

Whatever job he is given, whether it be inside mid, pure tagger or tagger who needs to hold a player to account by attacking as well Hewett will do it, won't complain at all and will do the job well.

I miss him at the Swans. Very underrated, even amongst Swans fans.

Can you believe Kane Cornes said last year he did not think Hewett would be in your best 22?
Ah Cornes, the gift that keeps giving…

Swans and GWS swaps have been on the table for a while now - trigger depends solely on who is on the board.
Question is do we covet Hollands over getting two first round picks? It’s very possible we miss him if we trade down even a few spots.
I think we like Hollands a lot.
