Geez, Twomey has suggested some great options for us. Can't go wrong with any of Holland's, Allen or Hewett.
For what we need though, Hollands I think is the man.

If we could somehow sneek a second pick before 20 though, we'd certainly pick up a damned good player. Was very impressed with Hewetts attack, speed, kicking and goal-sense. Allen looked like a man against boys, could he struggle at AFL level? Hollands was vanilla but an effective and reliable above average player who will play for the jumper. Just get him in.

SOS went to the US because it’s a junket these type of people get the benefit of. 14 year olds who follow American sport already know everything that SOS could learn from sitting at home on the computer.
He done the trade because we rated Stoker too high, simple as that.
I think Stocker rated Stocker too high.
Might have been the bigger issue.

My mail says I can buy one traditional pizza and get a second one for half price.
My mail has Essendon taking Phillipou.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

If Humphrey slid to our first and the Dogs went Busslinger I'd be all for trading out of next years draft to Syd for 14. The following teams needs would likely mean Holland's makes it to 14.

10 - Humphrey
14 - Holland's
29 - Take your pick... Richards, Keeler, Monkira, Binns etc

If the clubs extremely bullish on the Campo twins id think they'd be happy to trade out of 2024 come next year to allow us to still to pick up some players in 2023.

Holland's and Humphrey would be an exceptional outcome. Both players that fit the roles we need filled at the moment and both very good players.

What % chance does Humphrey slide though? There'd have to be a huge bolter and personally I can't see anyone jumping up the order.

What do draft watchers think of Darcy Jones?
Rate Darcy Jones very highly. The only “knock” is size. At 175cm, he is a “small”. If you are good enough, you are tall enough. The question is that we have long term staples in Fisher, Durdin and Motlop already “entrenched”, do we have room for another sub 180cm forward/mid type? Only our brains trust know their thoughts on that.

I would not have a problem if he was our second pick in the draft.

Hypothetically, we keep our picks and take Hollands with our first, realistically who would be available at our second pick that we would want?

Edit: I can see why we'd like to trade up for an earlier 2nd pick...
Ideally seeing we're taking Hollands at 11, I'd want a KPP like Keeler or Gruzewski at our second pick. But I think that realistically someone like Darcy Jones, Charlie Clarke or Blake Drury would be nice.

He won’t last anywhere near our second pick from what I’ve heard.

I agree with your point though - even if we loved him, he’s not really a type we’d be in the market for.

He would/could if our desire for another pick resulted in us trading an F2 (plus) for *’s #22.

So much conversation if one of Sydney’s picks, but that will cost F1, which we would be reluctant to pay.

Completely agree with this sentiment, though Humphrey is more wishful thinking vs a genuine chance. Hope I’m wrong!

It sounds like you’d have to get at least 22 to have any chance.

I don’t know anything about the draft but I’ve heard some pretty exciting things about him. Was curious to know whether he’s in the mix for our first.

Is this an exciting draft because it’s pretty even and therefore one bolter can change the top 12. dramatically?

Or simply it has been a while since we had multiple picks? With the possibility to trade too?

Exciting times :D
I think for us Carlton fans it has been fairly predictable since the rebuild started in the 2015 draft (in terms of our first pick). That one was exciting because we had 3 picks in the top 12.

The only draft since then where there seemed to be doubt around what we would do leading into it was 2019. I suppose 2018 we did the Stocker trade, but we still had the predictability of Walsh at 1. Last 2 we have traded the high pick out, so not the same interest until later.

This one is not just what we will do, but what other clubs may do, and whether that affects us directly or indirectly.

I would love this. Dogs and Dees would be a threat to take Hollands in that scenario. Fingers crossed.

interesting comment from Swans board....

"Rumour is we're close to getting Carlton's pick 10. Seems it's something like pick 10 & F2nd for pick 14&17"
If we did this, I think we could miss out on Hollands and could possibly end up with a combination like Weddle and Hewett... Wouldn't mind that...

I am just chewing it over in my mind, and would prefer however to keep our '10' (11), somehow get 1 of the Swans picks, keep our '29', and end up with Hollands, Hewett (or Hotton), then Keeler...

Oh get stuffed, can't just make me fall in love with Hollands and then pull the rug out from under me and we get someone else.

Probably the right move for us, but wowee the possibility makes me sad :(

Could we somehow get #29 upgraded?

Doubt Keeler still there at #29....

Would you take him at #17?

Might end up with Allan/Hewett (#14), Keeler/Jefferson (#17), Hotton/Gruzewski/Hustwaite/Binns (#29)

Binns looks like a nice ball user. Similar size to Hollands.

If we did this I would I hope we have decent intel that Hollands will still be there.

Then we take Hotton with 17, Hayes (if he keeps sliding) at 29, and Scully at 49. Rock and roll.

I'd love your first paragraph to be correct. As ABOD has said, "can't just make me fall in love with Hollands and then pull the rug out from under me"... But what will be will be... Whatever happens, I do believe we will get players who will value add to our list...
