The more I read, the more I feel like Van Es would be available at our 2nd pick which will end up in early 50s after F/S bids. If that is the case, who should we take at 33?

The 5 prospects I'd look at are Munkara, Magor, Darcy Jones, Charlie Clarke and Lemmey

Then hope Van Es or Ethan Phillips fall into the 50s which currently looks like a strong chance.
Just take both the big blokes.

We should be thinking about recruiting to eventually replace Aliir let alone Jonas, McKenzie and Clurey

From my extremely limited knowledge I feel like I want Lemmey at 33 and Van Es at 60. Essentially two project talls and hopefully one works out.
So Lemmey played in the backlines in this game, which was late in the year. I agree he could be the best option at 33.

Seems like a reasonable possibility someone bids on Montgomery in the 40s or 50s, and I imagine we will match a bid there, whereas don't think we will if it would eat up pick 33. Therefore, we're really only looking at pick 33 as being a live pick this year.

Honestly I'd be surprised if anybody bid on Montgomery, unless it was the Crows out of spite. If his name was Harper Smith I'm not sure he'd be on anyone's draft radar.

I'm curious as to when the crows have ever bid on a Port Academy or Father-Son player. For weeks before the 2020 draft there was absolute panic stations they would bid on Lachie Jones and they went straight to drafting Luke Pedlar.

Or when we have bid on one of theirs? We even let Borlase go through to the keeper.

Why would they possibly be interested in Montgomery?

Lemmey looked alright as a defender in those highlights. He is mobile and looks a good size for a tall kid.

Did laugh at his snap at goal late in the game that landed in the puddle in the Richmond swamp and stopped dead.

i wouldn't match a bid that early for Montgomery if there are players that are more talented or play in positions we need in greater priority. If he's still there after our second pick I'd take him then. Last year Burgoyne wasn't bid on and we took him with our last pick and I don't think Montgomery has been as highly rated as Burgoyne was.

Their recruiter mentioned an interest in seeing Trent Burgoyne test at the combine but didn’t bid.

Don’t think either club has had good enough players in the right positions, at the right point in the draft, to warrant a bid.

It’s small wins over the old enemy - not really worth it

Monty may end up a a rookie

One possible slider is ED Allan 94cm/82kg Cal Twomey has him ranked at 28
He missed the first half of the year with stress fractures in his back. His athleticism and scope is exciting.

He is the son of former Hawthorn and Fremantle player Ben Allan, but neither club has father-son rights on him.
The Eagles or Freo may take him earlier be wonderful if was still there @ 33

Hinkley would be salivating over a 94cm player. Straight to full forward...

At 94cms no wonder he has slide a bit ;)

Why risk it? Get someone that meets our needs and then see who else is around at pick 50 odd.

Every year there are 2 to 4 players that play 200 games after being rookie drafted, so there isn't a lack of decent players at 50 odd.

Ethan Phillips is #20 in Knightmare's October Power Rankings. So he has probably heard of interest from clubland.

AFL Draft Power Rankings: New names emerge in top 20
Haha Rookieme Central don't even have them in their top 40 - I guess because he's not 18. I have given up on Knightmare's rankings.

His player comments are still useful to read but his rankings are poor, and he manipulates them as we get closer to the draft and he finds out who the clubs are interested in and his rankings can then change 20 or 30 slots before he does his final phantom draft.

That's why I think Phillips has risen into his top 20. He's heard whispers.
