List Mgmt. 2022 AFL Draft

190cm, 83kg Monty is a neat-kicking defender, who uses his long arms to great effect, leading all non-AFL listed players in the SANFL for intercept marks.
That's Rhett Montgomerie, not related to Brett Mongomery and possible father son Harper Mongomery. He was excellent when the Maggies played Centrals earlier this year. He looked better than our boys playing in those games.

Haha Rookieme Central don't even have them in their top 40 - I guess because he's not 18. I have given up on Knightmare's rankings.

His player comments are still useful to read but his rankings are poor, and he manipulates them as we get closer to the draft and he finds out who the clubs are interested in and his rankings can then change 20 or 30 slots before he does his final phantom draft.

Yeh knightmare is a bit meh. Cal’s is about the only one with any cred

It's not an intrusion to post on the Port board. Visitors are always welcome.

He is still only 29 years old, and is the type & height to fit our tall-backman need. Interested to hear the thoughts of others here.

I think we need young KPDs. At 29, he does nothing for the demographic and i dont think he is good enough.

Thing about Lemmey is the pay off if he comes good is a higher value than everyone else we are looking at.

We’d want to be certain he’s not going to make it if we go over him. It could be Pav all over again.

I’ve got an open mind there’s a few I like but Lemmey coming good and us going over him is the one that will hurt us the most by getting it wrong.

We should pick swap 33 and 60 with Brisbane for 36 and 55.

More points for Brisbane for their 3 x father/sons
As Brisbane also have 34 and 35 which will be used on their father sons, we don’t actually move back in the draft order
We improve 60 to something closer to 50

Not the biggest blockbuster move of draft day, but it helps a bit.

Smart thinking.

Kevin Sheehan has listed his top ten defenders in the draft and there are a few SA boys.

Kyle Marshall Height: 201cm; Weight: 84kg
Oscar Kregar Height: 193cm; Weight: 81kg
Shaun Bennier Height: 190cm; Weight: 87kg

As well as the usual suspects; Brinn Little, 196cm Gold Coast Suns Academy looked a possible for around our Pick #

Played three matches for the Allies at the National Championships, as well as five VFL game for the Suns.
Recorded solid times on the speed and endurance tests at the recent State Draft Combine held in Victoria.

Lewis Hayes up to 199cm and tested very well over 20m. He would be the dream pick at 33 and has a game developed enough to play some AFL in 2023.

Will Edwards who I like for a late pick unsurprisingly tested exceptionally well. He’s physically fully developed and plays like Sam Frost. Good coaching should mould him into a serviceable full back.

Kyle Marshall and Van Es also with very impressive athletic profiles although I like what I have seen from Edwards more if its a choice between the 3.

Ethan Phillips I’ve not seen at all.

I reckon 2 of those 5 end up on our list in the national or rookie draft.

The article above says that only around 55 players are going to be taken, so highly likely a shuffle from 60 to 55 would be totally pointless.

The only moves we should do are those that might bring 33 forward.

You missed the point. Unless noone bids on Ashcroft and Fletcher before 33, this trade costs us nothing at all and moves 60 to 55. 33 becomes 36 but in reality remains at 33 because Brisbane use 33, 34 and 35 on Ashcroft and Fletcher.

If there are passes before 55/60 then 55 moves to, say 49 or 60 to 54.

Really would like to see that 2K run of Lewis Hayes in its entirety. Still suspect he’s gone out too hard too soon and it’s blown up on him over the last few 100 metres.

Ok, that makes sense. I missed that.

I know we’re only likely to take 2 Nat draft picks but we really should be taking at least 2 key defenders this year. If not the Nat draft then in the rookie draft.

I’m not familiar with the wa lads but there’s a few there of a good size. Add another wa lad next to pasini.
After looking through Shifters list of names I'm optimistic that we can get a pretty good KPD who will be able to push for a spot reasonbly soon and have the size to take on the bigger forwards. Van Es is now 197 cm and 99 Kg, thats pretty mature for a kid his age and he's still very athletic. Jed Adams 196cm and 89kg and Hugh Davies 196cm and 90kg are also not far off being phyisically ready. Some of the others expected to be available at our picks will take more time but could be worth a later pick e.g. Kyle Marshall. Ethan Phillips is a reasonable size but being 22 he probably hasn't got as much upside.

One possible slider is ED Allan 94cm/82kg Cal Twomey has him ranked at 28
He missed the first half of the year with stress fractures in his back. His athleticism and scope is exciting.

He is the son of former Hawthorn and Fremantle player Ben Allan, but neither club has father-son rights on him.
The Eagles or Freo may take him earlier be wonderful if was still there @ 33
94cm ruckman are hard to find. 😂
