We'll get more high picks next year and possibly the one after. We need match winners so I would be happy if they rolled he dice a tiny bit with someone like Humphrey.

I respectfully disagree. No stone should have been left unturned.

That will do though. I said my part on this and it was deleted so this probably will too.
I love Humphrey despite his shitty kicking if we had pick 12 would love him there. Hard I know re bowes we don’t know whether it was a done deal and we were teased which I suspect is most likely. It’s the trade that highlights that the AFL should not be allowed to use the word governance it’s a farce.

For me, Mackenzie and Clark both a better fit for us than Humphrey

Darcy Jones was also outside of Twomey's Top 30
Twomey is a reporter masquerading as having insight he just rings and rings to get info then reports on the likely draft order he’s good at that but there’s little insight. Evidence is this having jones outside 20 I hope big ears is right and we swoop at pick 25!

He projects more as an outside player and we need ball winners, also over the years he seems to get a lot of poss and provides run but can waste a lot of poss too, I just think there's better at our pick, but saying that I won't be upset if we get him.

Pros - he wins a tonne of ball, provides great run
Cons - disposal could be better, decision making could be better, tested poorly after foot injury, in his interview struggled to keep focus which might be why his disposal is a mixed bag?

Rumours are he might slide a little on draft night? Very good prospect though, so I'm torn.

Yup, if we're looking for outside I prefer the Pou. What some describe as laconic, I see as composed. Reckon he only gets better and better under more fire and could really hurt the opposition with that boot of his.
Tsatas looks like he plays with his hair on fire a bit for mine, and when the spaces get tighter at AFL level and oppo defenders close down much faster, I worry that decision making will result in more turnover than is optimal.
He's still a good player for sure, but I like McKenzie far more as I reckon he's an in the coal face ball winner and loose ball getter with speed who can exit, and I feel very comfortable seeing him with ball in hand.

For me, knowing, analysing and sharing what multiple clubs are thinking - or even what they think other clubs might be thinking - offers as much or more insight than do draft watchers who have no links to clubs/managers.

This is not a criticism of draft watchers, it’s great to have their analysis and intel, but it’s hard to know how much of their output absorbs the work of broadly reliable reporters who go directly to the source.

might have been suggested but could we get a poll going?
Tsatas if he slides otherwise definitely Clark for me but I was happy with Beau Dowler

Kicking doesn't look too bad here....

On SM-G996B using BigFooty.com mobile app

Few lazy one armed tackles and some short steps worry me.

The knock on him defensively (and the fact he does not want to go interstate) is the only reason why he isn't in the conversation for the #1 pick.

Judd in some of his early days was ridiculous, didn't he have a year where his kicking efficiency was like 85%+????

I'd be surprised if he even got 85% in a game let alone a year.

In regards to the Essendon pick 22. Do clubs, when using picks for father-sons have to be used in order high to low, or can you nominate picks that you want to use?
I believe that you have to use your next available pick, then the next and so on.

This is why clubs trade picks on the night to get better value for their next available. Eg Let's say Bris still had pick 16 or whatever. If Ashcroft is bid on early they would have to use that pick. However, if they traded it for a for a second round and or future picks, they would then have to use the next available this year.

The reel on the AFL website has some decent vision from Humphrey's time in the midfield, showing his field kicking is a bit neater than what he showed in the carnival game. Just look at that sidestep, the contested ball winning, the big boots into the 50.

Worth noting he also kicked more goals than behinds this season (21 goals 18 behinds), yes he's prone to a shocker here or there but he's generally okay from a decent distance.

I'm swinging hard back into the Humphrey camp, there's just something special about him that you can't afford to pass up as a team that needs its next superstar. With how many reports have come out that we rate him highly, Twomey having him around our mark (remembering he has pretty good contacts when it comes to the Hawks, pegged us for Butler if he slid last year, and got the late word on MacDonald as well despite us not interviewing him at all), I think he's a real chance to head our way. While we'd be silly to pass up Tsatas's pedigree it's unlikely he actually goes past Essendon, so I'd have the Bear as the betting favorite for our pick right now, whether the board rates him or not.

I am in agreeance with everything you said.

The other thing about Humphrey is his maturity and exceptional character.

I really hope we take him.

This is bullshit. I want Sheezel.
North will take him, which is funny, because they have the opportunity to take the two best mids in the draft but they look like turning their back on that.

So if Essendon dont do any pick trades they would spend pick 22 and 54 on Alwyn Davey Jr @ 17, per say, and their next pick is 62! Word is they want 4-5 picks?

True, but it's better than him going to Essendon.

Our boy Sheez would be hurting right now, knowing how close he got to realising his childhood dream of playing for us but being taken by North.

They couldn’t possibly go two mids could they. They’ve neglected every other area of their list in the last few drafts. To me Cadman was a no brainer for them but they’ve cooked that already.
