I’ve written off Sidebottom as a mid, however Pendles has a role rotating into the midfield. However if we’re going to move forward as a team he has to have less midfield minutes moving forward

How well we do in 2022 will come down to the improvement in guys like Lipinski, J Daicos, Macrae. Already that’s a core of 9 pretty solid players, I don’t think the cattle was the issue last year - we now have the right coaches and support around them.

I agree that the 'cattle' weren't the issue last year but neither were the coaches. We finished 17th – looks bad, but we were not the rubbish that that position suggests.

There were 5 games lost by less than 2 goals – 2 of those by a point. 11 wins has you jousting for a place in the 8. The moves to dump Treloar and Stephenson probably exacerbated deficiencies that we've carried for a while. Some promising young players emerged and put games under their belt. Now we've drafted more potential excitement.

I'm not sure that you can say that they have the right coaches and support around them yet. I'm optimistic but we are fielding an untried senior coach and a couple of failed senior coaches at the helm.

This is all true. The issues this year were the thin list after the dumpings, followed by injuries to the most important players we had. This led to a lot of premature debuts, most of which produced promising players.
This year, again, the front line looks strong, but the backup is inexperienced. We will be very vulnerable to injuries again if they are to our best players.
The coaching position is a total unknown, and the high expectations in this area seem without foundation.
I have said elsewhere that I think we will be reasonable next year if injuries treat us kindly, but quite vulnerable the one after.

Johnson will be putting allot of pressure on WHE and alike
depends what position WHE is playing. if its wing, then it has nothing to do with Johnson. Only affects him if its in the forward line.

Johnson will need to prove himself, because right now I don't have him in the team and dont know where he fits/who he pushes out.

And so far Johnson has poor endurance

interesting you don’t have Ruscoe even listed as an emergency. I would swap Ruscoe for Maynard and Maynard for C. Brown.

Also assuming DeGoey is free to train soon surely he is best 22.

Yes Forgot Ruscoe!!!
maybe put him in for Callum B.
Agree with you thoughts re Maynard
or Crisp to midfield not both

I think line ups will be adjusted once we know whats happening with De Goey.

The back 6 is pretty spot on.

Pendles wont start in the middle, unless there is a massive change over the next few weeks. Lets see where he plays in match sim tomorrow if he plays the game. Been more doing work at half back.
Lippa hasnt been playing on the wing, more inside.
I think we'll see WHE and either Poulter or Sidebottom on the wings. Josh seems to be playing more inside as well, but I think he is best suited to wing. Sidebottom ideally should be half forward

We wont have to worry about JDG for a few weeks, doubt he plays round 1. Clubs have given players a suspension for less. Even in 2018 he was delegated to the vfl training before he earned back respect. But otherwise that forward line is good, I'd put Ollie in JDG's place.

I haven't formed an opinion whether Kreuger will make the round 1 team. Isnt out if Iso, so only seen him in a couple sessions.

Bianco probably slots in there somewhere. But the int is good. I suspect noble does make the best 22.

Kelly ahead of Kreuger to start the season
Nicky D as the 7th defender, with he and Crisp rotating through the midfield
(Maynard to get more midfield minutes if DeGoey misses time, also an opportunity for Reef)

Wouldn’t read too much into where Pendles lines up at the moment at training. They’ll nurse him through for a few weeks given his pre-Christmas surgery.

Oh.
This is not something new. Has been training there since November when pre-season began. Even before he got re-injured

This is just changing of the guard to make room for the new gen midfield.

The midfield looks poor, pendles and Sidebottom are slowing down, adams is injury prone and Grundy has been well below his best for a couple of years now.
Must be hard changing batteries when all you see is the negative sides.

Lipinski Maynard J.Daicos

DeGoey Cameron Elliott

WHE Sidey MacRae Ruscoe

This team looks so much more skilled and capable of quick play. I’m leaving Crisp back as he’s much better kicking long to space than pin pointing I50s.

Maynard gives some inside power and long kicking in the midfield, and DeGoey props up the weaker line up forward.

Quick movement will allow WHE to thrive and I actually think Cox could be a threat in front of this line up.

Noble, Bianco, Poulter, McInness and Ginnivan to knock on the door.

I think Pendles will still be primarily mid as he’s exposable down back, but is spending pre season preparing for Plan B. Not much left to learn training as a mid?

Unskilled plodders no longer welcome.

I hate to rip apart your team lol But what gives you the idea Lippa will be playing wing?

Agree. The only shining light is De Geoy who is in trouble atm. But if Grundy picks up, Pendlebury and Adams have a good season and we develop a few of Daicos, Macrae, Mcinnis and Poulter we might be okay.
