Future second and our pick 44

Into an early second rounder.

+ picks 31+35

A rookie and stocker.

Very nice list build in the 12 months between drafts
Having looked at those clubs having picks before us Essendon are the most likely to want to trade if Davie is not bid on before their pick? I gather the other option is WCE given Allen & Jones have been taken already - as long as we are not chasing the same player?

I wonder if we are interested in the SA ruckman Barnett?

Every draft expert I.e Twomey has said we were working on a deal to take Hewett with one of the GWS picks.

The eagles said they weren’t looking at taking 2 WA boys with their first 2 picks. With Ginbey being the lock at 9 to them.

Twomeys phantom draft has been 13/13 and had Hewett going early in the second round to the eagles third pick.

So they went early to avoid losing him.
Have also heard that Ed Allen was very surprised not to be called at WC second pick...

What Hawthorn gave up to get Weddle…wow!

Someone said it was likely to be the equivalent of about pick 4, and that Sydney effectively get about pick 21 next year for free.

Reminds me of what they gave us to get the picks needed to get JOM.

They sure do know how to overpay!
I think you will find they also got back Sydney 2nd & 3rd round picks next year? So its not as bad as it first looks.

Hawthorn proved that NGA proves Jack $hit by taking Cam McKenzie, so I really hope we take Anthony Munkara.
IMO a player that will set the world alight, with fans just turning up to watch him perform.

Totally agree, he's something we're missing too a really electric small forward. Could be a big point of difference.

We aren't getting two first rounders for NWM next year unless he plays 22 games, wins the BnF, is top 5 in the Brownlow and says he will play for either SA team to invite a bidding war.

His output is nowhere near the likes of Taranto and Hopper who attracted those deals.

It'd be a late first or early 2nd ala Tanner Bruhn.

Clark would probably be worth even less. We tried to ship Clark + 9 for 3 and got turned down. If he asks to go to North next year then we probably get their 2nd rounder.

Not a chance we have 4x 1st round picks. No way.
Yes we will. Both will get FRDP's and NWM will get two.

Why is there such a strong assumption that The Messiah will go back to SA after next season? He's had one year at the Saints, a fairly good year for him personally in a very ordinary year for the team. Things are really cooking now, the club is transforming before his eyes - he'll stay for the sheer excitement playing for our next flag brings, as well as the "legend" status that goes with it!!

Maybe the fact that he is the only first round draft pick from last season yet to sign an extension?

You'd think they would have learnt after the O'Meara trade. Apparently not.

One thing you can trust with the hawks, they'll trade the future for the immediate as much as Dodo will produce a wall so people wishing to trade can headbutt it and stumble away from trading with the Bombers.

Pies and Cats are the two you shadow if you want generally nice intel with people that hit more than they miss.

No doubt already posted but loving the ranking!

Pick 10, St Kilda: Mattaes Phillipou

Doerre Power Rankings: 2

Recruited from: Woodville-West-Torrens (SA)

Likely role: 80/20 inside mid/fwd - a first possession winner at stoppages who wins the ball on the burst and pushes forward to provide a long-range goalkicking option or push forward as a marking option. Early on Phillipou because of his marking capabilities, speed and ground level craft is likely to spend a lot of his time forward and over time should earn greater midfield responsibility.

Readiness and likelihood to play: Phillipou will be eager for early season opportunities and should push for a series of games at some point with a view towards earning regular senior selection by seasons end.

What you should know: The son of former Footscray player Sam, Mattaes is a 192cm, dual position impact player who is arguably this year's most damaging prospect through the midfield and up forward. Through the midfield, Phillipou is a first possession winner who bursts out of stoppages at speed and demonstrates class with ball in hand. As a forward he provides a marking presence, hits the scoreboard at will, and sets up teammates inside 50 with precise entry kicks.

This is like the 6th reply being mildly defensive about a throwaway line about big games.

We don’t have Anzac Day, Easter Monday, Queens BDay, Season opener etc etc. That’s all.

Yes we have a diehard loyal supporter base, yes when we were rolling 10 years ago Friday/Saturday nights at colonial were “the s**t” but if a draftee is saying they were built for the big stage and big games in Melbourne you’ll forgive me and every other afl supporter if we don’t immediately think St.Kilda over Collingwood, Richmond, Carlton at the G with 80k.
There’s only one way to get big games as a sainter. Make it to finals

Maybe the club will announce his 3 year extension next week along with Phillipou's 10 year extension?

Is that all?
I think that's all the facts that anyone can point towards, otherwise we are all just spitballing as to whether he hates Melbourne or not or his homesick. Doubt many on here know the intricacies of Nasiahs life or how he is feeling. IMO, the not signing an extension is somewhat of a red flag when almost every other kid who has been committed to by a club with their first round pick has shown the faith. I wonder who his manager is....
