I think my ideal would be to see if Sydney will take 11 and 21 for 14 and 17, and draft Lewis Hayes, Darcy Jones, and Ethan Phillips.
I’d see if they have any interest in a F1 seeing as they’ve been pretty open about not rating the draft. Not sure what a trade would look like cos depends on how each team rates this draft/next draft but I’d suggest we could possibly get overs like 14 & 17 (to add to 11) for F1 and possibly even 38

14 & 17 for F1? We could potentially get one of them, but not both, surely.

Yeah I would spew if we use up any of our two F1's next season given the quality of the draft at this stage. And if us and Brisbane some how had a season from hell, we could end up with two top 10 picks. Happy to trade away our F2 though

The consensus among recruiters spoken to by foxfooty.com.au this week is Fletcher will be the second prospect to attract a rival club bid after the Lions‘ other father-son prospect Will Ashcroft, who’ll almost certainly be called at Pick 1. They believe a bid on Fletcher could then come as early as West Coast’s second selection (Pick 12, which will be Pick 13 after the Ashcroft bid), but more likely from when the Swans enter the draft at Pick 15.

lmao pony up Brisbane

What do you think our F2 + #39 could get us in this years draft if we’re keen on a slider?

I'm just curious given the lack of quality defenders in this league, and that many teams could do with one. Why he keeps free falling down everyones rankings? He has gone from potential top 5 pick, to just inside the 10, and now some rankings have him around 15. Another month and Hayes might well just over take him.
Plenty of draft watchers are adamant he's an interceptor and not a KPD. In the champs he stood by and watched Jefferson kick 7, at no point did he take him or was sent to him. It's probably why Hayes continues to rise up the boards (genuine KPD scope)

For our pick 39. I would not mind taking a shot at Magor. A midfielder with a bit of power in the legs, but more importantly one that can actually play up forward. A strong one on one marker and can find the goals. We lack speed and one on one marking ability. Would rather him play on the half forward line out wide, than one of our vanilla mids "resting". Can also pinch hit in the middle to give one of our guys a couple of plays off to rest. Will most likely be gone before then, but still a chance to be there as well.

West Naughton Weightman
Magor Lobb Ugle-Hagan

Not quite a specialist crumbing pressure small in there. But Weightman and West can more than cover it if they actually play their roles right. A bit of marking power and x factor in there.

Big fan of Magor, I will be a little surprised if he's available then though. There's not many like him in the draft.

Would like us to take a punt on George if he’s there at 21. He’s one of the few in this draft with real star qualities. Will be a damaging mid/forward in a few years.

If there's some sliders;
Buss with our 1st
George with our 2nd
Van E with our 3rd
This would not only set us up for developing kpd's, but we'd have a diamond in the rough with George(top 10 pick without the injury) in 2023.
Then 2 1st rounders in 2023 to draft some developing mids.
That's 4 1st round picks to power the dogs for years, this is also not taking into account upcoming f/s

I honestly don't rate Buss that high, and would rather spend a slightly lower pick on one of Hayes, Weddle or Van Es who I don't feel are really far behind (if at all). If I had it my way, I'd be going midfielder/wing at 11, small forward at 21 then either Van Es at 39, or Phillips as a rookie/late pick.

In saying that, there is the risk that Van Es and Phillips are both gone before those picks. I really wouldn't want us finishing this draft without a KPD
A lot of phantoms have Ethan Phillips going before our 3rd rounder.
Its pretty plan to see the dog's need some developing KPD's out of this draft.
If Phillipou somehow drops to our 1st, i'd be happy to trade back p21 and upgrade our our 3rd to get both Phillips and Van Es

I’m really hoping we get Philips and George with our top picks.

Both players with huge upside.

Imagine a forward line in 2024 made up of:

CHF: Philips Naughton George
FF: Weightman Jamarra Lobb

Phillipou? And do we have a back line in this situation with Keath and Jones both approaching retirement age?

And as a said earlier

The back line can continue to be filled up with late draft picks/traded in players.

I’m extremely confident that the Dogs will continue to use their top draft picks in the midfield and the forward line.

History proves that they will..

Last 10 years:

  • Macrae/Stringer (2012)
  • Bont (2013)
  • McLean (2014)
  • Dunks (2015)
  • English (2016)
  • Naughton (2017)
  • Smith (2018)
  • Weightman (2019)
  • Jamarra (2020)
  • Darcy (2021)
  • Hopefully Phillipou and George (2022)
