I like the thought of going local. But you have to make decisions on what is best for the club's list. That is the only decision. Making 4 grand finals in the last 11 years indicates to me that we are above average in making decisions on players.
Of course , but Richmond don't make dumb decisions

Also we did go local, we took Will Edwards

Well thank you Rusty , had to put up with an idiot on another thread , maybe i meant they are a well run club who make good decisions , but not all are right . My god we recruited Paul Chambers and a host of other spuds
I would like you to justify why Richmond do not make dumb decisions if you are so positive about their decision making.
Why are they a club that do not make dumb decisions?

Can't wait for Toby Greene to do something stupid again and the club captain gets rubbed out for 4 games.

Craig Davis on SEN earlier talking about drug policy in footy said West Coast should be stripped of the 06 flag , the same as Lance Armstrong got stripped of wins
Why would anyone disagree with this if your a true swan and knew what went on !

I reckon the most overrated club coming into this year is Richmond again. Not dissimilar to last year, the media are thirsting for the Tigers to recapture what they used to be. Hopper and Taranto are being hailed as the reasons they're gonna come back to the top 4 and premiership contention but they never experienced at GWS anything like the attention and expectations that will be shoved down their throats every week this year at Richmond. They're also both relatively slow (albeit very good or excellent players) and I don't think move the needle that much on how dangerous their midfield is. Lynch hurt already. Martin has barely played consistent footy in the past 12 months. Throw in their ageing stars get injured often and are not what they used to be anyway (e.g., Cotchin, Riewoldt) and I think a lot is being asked of this club to recapture that energy from their 3 flags in 4 years period. You can't turn back the clock that far with a largely similar list. Plus last year they lost a lot of games in very undisciplined fashion - they had games in their control and threw them away through dumb mistakes and lack of discipline which I doubt Hardwick has coached out of them over one pre-season; they're ageing players who won't have grown new habits all of a sudden imo.

I'll tip them to make finals but not near flag contenders imo.

Cant help but agree when some are putting them as flag favourites and I'm wondering if they are even a lock for finals.

I thought our game against them last year was epic. I don't often use epic. But it was.

I agree Tigers are being overrated by the nedia but the fact they lost so many close games last year quite uncharacteristically, to me suggests this year they may be able to win more of those than they lost in 2022, so would still expect them to be there abouts. Could finish top 4.

And then you have the filth who won so many close ones

And then you have the contrarian opinion that suggests they could indeed be on the slide and lose more of those close games or lose them by more.
Such is the competition. It is a fine line. One player can determine a club. Be that difference. Who knows.

Collingwood are quite an interesting test case imo. They won pretty much all of their close games, so you could make the same argument for them, albeit the converse, but to me its not that simple. The fact that collingwood were able to come back and snatch some games that they otherwise should have lost shows that they have a determination and a never say die attitude which will hold them in good stead next year. That competitive spirit is innate imo (for those players who drive the comeback victories) and based on their performances last year, I'd expect them to maintain that competitive edge. In saying that, if a couple of the players get ahead of themselves or move away from what worked for them last year, those close results could easily go the other way. But all other things being equal, i wouldnt expect them to lose that aspect of their game.
