There's gonna be some openings in the leadership group very soon, as Buddy and Rampe depart, maybe even Parker and Lloyd step down from leadership duties. That is when I think you'll start seeing young guys like Gulden, McCartin, Blakey and even more unexpected types like McInerney and Warner step up.

For now though, it makes sense to capitalise on the decade-plus of experience and the learned lessons that those veterans can offer.

I don't see Blakey being on the cusp of joining the leadership group, nor McInerney. Errol and McCartin I agree with. Other contenders would be Rowbottom and Florent. I think Warner is in the race, a dark horse (a bit unexpected as you say), because he has the ambition.

I tend to think how players are spoken about by those within the club is a bit of a give away.

Some you hear about their popularity within the club, what influence they have on their teammates, their investment in team meetings, how they train or how hard they work or how high they set the standard, etc.

Then others you hear only about what they do on the field.

The former tend to be the ones who end up in the leadership group, even if they might be personality types not typically associated with leadership, so I wouldn't at all be shocked if Blakey and McInerney follow Warner as unconventional choices in the future.

Alastair Clarkson threatened a female reporter in an incident that prompted mediation between the North Melbourne coach and Channel 9.

Clarkson told reporter Elisabeth Moss “your time will come” in an outburst on February 1st as the media descended on Arden Street in the wake of allegations Tarryn Thomas threatened and intimidated multiple women.
Incredibly, Clarkson’s comment is similar to the one Thomas allegedly made among a series of threatening text messages to women as detailed to the AFL integrity unit.
But it's OK because he later apologised.

Just as he did to the Umpire's advisor he abused during his son's U9 match and presumably apologised to the wall as well.

Angry little man.
Leopard, spots etc.

I also found this really weird, given it was professionally shot so there had to actually be some thought that went into this. If senior coaches taking photos with players' babies was a common thing I'd think nothing of it. Alas, it just screams "See! Your babies ARE safe with me!" Strong photo op vibes given what's being alleged.

Fox Footy with a better caller lineup as per usual. If they swapped Underwood with Brayshaw it'd literally be all of the best callers available. Their experts are also overall better but considering they have actual footy shows that doesn't shock me.

Because the club has not gone and gotten the contract for the player.... or some such.

Do I beleive it.... well, no
Doing interviews on TV/radio, guest panel spots on shows like the Footy Show I get it. That's part of being an AFL player

But actively being in the media on commentary or on a guaranteed weekly spot on 360? That's just not acceptable imo

Eh.

Stopped getting annoyed about it. Too many 3rd party deals of people associated with the club to worry about it really.

It is rife

That under 9 match for my club and the umpires advisor was and still is a flog trying to big note himself . The mob they were playing were feral and still are ! I've never said he's a great bloke , but people are all different , but i love how he sticks up for his people .
