Too many people these days are disconnected from reality.

It doesn't bother me at all what Leigh said, nothing wrong with the truth. I enjoy the women's game, it supports a pathway to the top for 50% of the population. It doesn't need to make money, 7 and Foxtel have covered that.
Of course it needs to make money, that’s rule number 1,2,3,4&5 in business.
It will be like the WNBA with the NBA fully funding it for eternity.

Now Mason Cox dunking on Freo, that's gotta break their spirit. Wouldn't be surprised if Collingwood win in a blowout now.

Bill Burr does a great set on this exact subject, how commentators all have to play dumb when asked why women aren't paid as much as men in sport. Very funny and true.
Some womens sport I prefer over men's but not many. Swimming, athletics, cycling etc I enjoy as much as men's. Can't say that for football's or cricket etc.

If it were standalone, yeah. But it's under the AFL umbrella, so they're covered. The Giants and Suns are money pits, but that doesn't seem to matter to anyone. I'd say the AFL have the long term goal in mind. Rarely profitable from day one.

Freo getting embarrassed now, I wish I could laugh at them but they beat us the last time we played them.

We aren't even at Freo's level let alone Collingwood, I hope all our players are watching these finals matches to see what it takes.

It's probably only Steele, Wilkie, Windhager and Owens watching the finals, the rest of our players will be partying it up overseas.

Apparently the Australian womens national soccer team played a warm-up game against the Newcastle Jets boys under 14’s team and got spanked 7-0. Against 13/14yo schoolboys!

Same thing happened with a US womens national team (might have been baseball) getting destroyed by a similarly aged team of boys.

So they’re putting up a vastly vastly inferior quality/standard product, but want to be paid like it’s primo. Just “because”.

They get away with it because the beta males of the world don’t have the balls to say no to anything they ask for, and think they’ll get some thrown their way if they comply.

Little do they know…

Agree, but you can’t even speak truths in 22
Ah, well yes, it depends.

A little story: I am in the Airbnb down at Margaret River and the tv is on Ch 10.
It has gone 5 so the news is on and I’m sipping a Pinot and just wasting time before heading out for a Korean. Not really interested in what’s in the news and certainly not interested in the background of the newsreader.
I subsequently research her (the reason why will shortly be obvious) and discover her to be an openly gay, First Nations woman.

You may recall an incident back in late July during the opening of Federal Parliament.
At the Welcome to Country in the Senate, Pauline Hanson refuses to participate and makes her exit from the Chamber as much for the publicity as for any other reason.
But in doing so clearly makes her feelings about Welcome to Country known.
Your openly gay, First Nations newsreader completes her coverage of this story, pauses, and then, sotto voce, editorialises with the following:
”Don’t let the door slam (on your way out)”.
Then heads to an ad break.

I am left open mouthed at this obviously unscripted ad lib, and burst out laughing.
Leaving me to Google her details.

So, there, in that little instance, close to your home, is a wonderful example of speaking truth.

It will never stand alone. WNBA been around since 96, way more population, viewership etc. Still leeching off the mens league.
I’m no fan of the plastics either fwiw, reckon the AFL have royally rooted the comp tbh.

In my neck of the woods and you don’t even reach out, I see how it is

I agree with the gay shiela. That toxic halfwit racsist can GAGF'ED. Why not acknowledge the traditional owners, after all the aren't getting it back.

Collingwood 17th to a preliminary final.
St Kilda nowhere to nowhere
Excellent trajectory although not sure Collingwood were a true 17th last season. They had a lot of injuries if I recall correctly. ( and no Nick Daicos).

Still, the performance this year, with so many tight games, has been nothing short of astounding. Now let’s hope Swans thrash them next week 🤣
