If you read the relevant thread over on the Essendon board, you can get a good grasp of what is happening.
Lore runs a pretty mean thread.
It‘s a bit GofT but fascinating.
If Lore does wander here, they might be kind enough to correct my synopsis but:
Three groups: one for Rutten, one for Clarkson and the third for Hird.
The guys who got kneecapped in the first, the guys who took over are the second, and Sheedy and Dodoro are the third group.
The discussion was quite mature, surprisingly to me, and appeared to be anti Hird and anti Dodoro.
But I haven’t been there for a couple of weeks.
That’s approximately what we knew at the time yes, though the leaks have dried up now so if anything has changed neither we nor the media know it.

The exact factions are a theory. We have old vs new fairly nailed down, the Sheedy faction is more of an enigma in terms of size, goals and influence. The Clarkson group is more of an anti-Rutten group, they’d rather have no coach than Truck. We don’t know how open they are to Hird.

Sentiments among fans on our club board tend to be better informed and more sensible (imho) than what you’ll find among the general fan base on other platforms, so wouldn’t generalise from it. Ignore any polls about Hird, they’re all corrupted.

They were phoning in on the Radio this morning.

One Bombers supporter, stated that someone at the AFL had warned Hird, "stop it now or its going to go badly". Ignored them, and later tried to shaft the AFL for giving the heads up. ( Think of a cop doing you a favor and telling you that you might want to keep your Carey anti-inflamatories out of sight for a while , ignoring him, then trying to drag him down when you get busted ). He said he'd be a Swans supporter if they got Hird back.

Others were fully on the "everyone deserves a second chance " attitude , that i'm sure a lot of murderers would love more magistrates to have

What do you mean by the polls are corrupted?

Anecdotally i know 5 Essendon supporters who are properly invested die hard fans.

3 are adamant its the worst possible outcome for Hird to coach and they would be filthy with the club if thats the outcome.

2 are adamant he is the best coach available and should 100% get the job (1 of them actually wanted him over Clarko when that was happening).

Personally i think it is absolutely staggering that even a single Essendon supporter thinks this is a good idea.

It's like something out of a Kurt Vonnegut novel or a Frank Zappa song. Outstanding result if it happens.

They are strange people.
And very delusional.

Troll voters mostly. When the skew is removed, Yze has a strong lead over Scott, Hird is third, close after Scott. Lyon was previously ahead of Yze before he bowed out. That's also a pretty good representation of the general sentiment in our board's threads too.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the club board isn't representative of the general fan base - if you go on Twitter or Facebook, there's overwhelming support for Hird among those who generally don't pay close attention.

At this point there's also a growing group that feel like it's inevitable and instead of losing their minds they've found the funny side of Hird being appointed, just want to eat popcorn and watch the world burn.

I think the rusted on lunatic Dons supporters ( eg Robbo ) see the re-ascension of Hird to be akin to the "Circle of Life" as per the Lion King.
Notwithstanding that this analogy is based on cute Disney characters, probably better associated with Brisbane, nonetheless, I agree, it is very delusional.
EDIT: Maybe The Omen #2 or Exorcist #2 is a more appropriate analogy ? I dunno.

Find someone from that incident who admits to wrong doing.

It's not your fault if you can plead ignorance or that you were on sniffo yourself and thus impaired, as the chemists should have known better and not muh job to be a chemo.

Put yourself in those shoes during that time;

You're a parent of one of those kids, you are wholeheartedly in one of two camps;
1. I trust that they have my best interests on welfare of my child.
2. Scorch that Earth.

You're one of the players affected, you're also then largely in one of two camps;
1. This is overblown, I get jabbed all the time and I feel fine.
2. There was no oversight at all, I'm cheated, this is F'd, burn all the bridges.

You're part of the governance and there is only really one thing you want and that's to grab that boom and start sweeping and hope no one notices. Because if someone does, questions get asked, and you don't like questions because that means you as part of governance screwed something through ignorance of procedures and documentations that have signatures. Please don't question me on welfare...

You're directly involved, pants around your ankles and currently ploughing that pooch for all its worth, it's beer goggles, it's rose tinted glasses, it's a once off, it's me backing away slowly as I'm Shultzing my way to being happy and a hero and deflecting as best I can whilst backing away as fat as I can in pulling those pants back up. Not my fault, blame the other guys, doctor should have known better, been stronger, chemos shouldn't have been licensed, that receptionist should have taken better notes... excuse me whilst this line disappears.

Time passes, you waltz in to small instances to be all "hey, it's me, remember the good times?" people get less shifty eyes as yeah good times, small period of shit, has enough time passed? Lets hold a celebration and yeah, those are cheers drowning the naysayers, maybe if we just...

My camp right here. Governance is a joke killing the game softly and Port are providing the songs, might as well watch the crash in slow motion. TF for covid crashing everyone to the middle so everyone could get covered in shit for a while, how great was it seeing Pucovski back and bossing everyone for a few days before getting hit in the knackers.

* BT is unbearable.
Sick of his shit, mentioned it last week too. Particularly hate how he tries to force a conspiracy into every game, this week it was the goal at the end of the 1st quarter not being legitimate because the player was allowed to go off his line to snap it. They are the rules BT...they are the rules.

Insufferable

Geelong is a great side and a well run club but they play so boring, I feel nothing watching them play.
Ideally it would've been a Collingwood Sydney GF, you are right Geelong are boring and Brisbane are alright but less fun to watch than the other two teams in tomorrows prelim.

I hope the attacking style of footy comes back, it seems like it is. Us under Ross were probably the most boring side to watch, I even felt that as a supporter on occasion.
