Don’t think it’s rocket science to realise this.

Point being: it's impossible to know how much they run in comparison to the guys playing AFL each week. Both on the field and when training. The only people who know are the ones managing their running loads and have their GPS numbers etc.

Hi folks,
What is the status of Connor Ballenden, please? He hasn't played VFL since round 10 and is not on the AFL injury list.
He's available in our keeper league and would be decent depth.
Cheers.

Didn’t we delist Connor last year

Haha, you are probably right. He is still listed on our waiver page.
Cheers.
Bewick is no longer on the list either.
In case you are wondering?

Matho looks a very good senior player in the few games he has played. Does this help convince people that reserves form means something?

I saw Matho kick 4 goals in a half at Carlton last year where he looked far above the standard.

Is the jump from the Twos to the Ones bigger for talls then midfielders? What about forwards and backs?

I've seen key position players dominate at a lower level but struggle when promoted quite often.

My view is Matho listened to the coaches, worked hard on his game and then dominated at reserves level for a period of time. He forced his way back into the firsts on the back of this.

On the other hand watching Prior go around on the weekend you wouldn't be promoting him on form yet if he were to be picked this weekend not many of us i reckon would have a problem with this because he tends to play better at a higher level.

At this stage of the season I think a settled team is important and promotion would be based primarily on needs due to suspension, injuries etc. Lohmann (or Lolmann as the caller at Moreton Bay repeatedly stated) would have to be closest to forcing his way back in on form. Hopefully it is not too late in the season.

The other thing I would note is the difficulty of judging these players on the screen. The posters who attend the reserves games would have a better idea of workrate, positioning, impact etc.

I have posted something similar about the inside mids and the talls in the VFL. No way is Fullarton being matched up on Moore or May or etc etc, No way is Payne facing a Hawkins, McKay, etc etc so the step up to AFL is significant in some of the key positions and arguably inside mids. No easy answer, but perhaps Dev, Prior, Berry, Payne, Fullarton should be exploring regular AFL opportunities at weaker clubs. Otherwise how do they develop into consistent AFL players if only playing a handful of AFL games throughout an entire season.

delisted and playing in South Australia now. He actually represented South Australia this year and was one of the best on ground against Western Australia with Micael Voss's son Casey.

VFL Match Preview: Round 21 v Sandringham

Darryl McDowell White and Will Ashcroft have both been named in the clash at Trevor Barker Oval tomorrow morning.

A dual sport athlete who has spent time in the States playing College Basketball, McDowell White, son of Triple Premiership Brisbane Lion Darryl White, will have his first taste of VFL football on Saturday after assisting from the sidelines with the Lions VFL side as a runner this season.

While Will Ashcroft, son of Brisbane Lions legend Marcus Ashcroft, will make his return to the VFL team in this weekend’s clash after previously playing several games for the Lions VFL earlier in this year.
