Reckon that ends up as DFA
Frampton should too be a DFA too.

Regardless, if the club knows that another club is interested in one of our players then they won't be delisted until after trade week.

Clubs often choose to trade for players, rather than waiting to sign them as a DFA. There are a few reasons for this - it may affect their own FA compensation, certainty, and the desire to get the player into their system as quickly as possible. We did much the same thing when we signed Podsiadly.

So just to get this right .

Geelong, as Premiers, have delisted 5 and retired 1 in an effort to improve their list again.

Us, finishing 14th, have delisted 0 and retired 1 in an effort to improve our list.

I just can't get my head around how we are not being more ruthless in our list cuts, even if it means paying out a contract or two.

Yep, unbelievably poor list management IMO

I reckon it’s our re-signing blitz last year that’s done us in, a lot of guys that shouldn’t have gotten multi-year deals last year that did. Beyond that, EH and Gollant should’ve gotten 1 year deals this year, max

It's not envy more curiosity/interest. But you read that a few players have toured PAFC's facilities (and I don't have a great deal of interest in any of those names outside of Francis for steak knives)

Aside from Rankine who are we looking to bring to West Lakes this trade period? I'd like to hear us show some interest towards Francis and Caleb Poulter and ideally an explosive/powerful quality big, bodied mid (the dream). Looks like we might be fairy quite this trade period outside Rankine. Next season I think Nicks has to take a decent step up and show more or for me show him the door if the season is a fail.

Why Francis Evans?

Rowe>>Evans and Rowey likely on his bike...

Francis isn't a need with Doedee (more agile) and Worrell (taller) playing the same role.

Poulter I'd have like to have a go at, but the explosive/powerful quality big, bodied mid (i.e. not Jack Graham) is probably being lined up next year when he's OOC from what has been reported. Front end Rankine's contract this year, then use the space to do the same the following year.

BTW, who are the FAs for 23?

Several reasons...
  • Firstly, while we may not be delisting many, we do expect to see a significant number of players leaving via trades.
  • Secondly, we've already been through a massive list turnover in recent years. The reason we're 14th is because we have the youngest & least experienced team & list in the competition. Delisting a bunch of kids would only compound that situation. What we need now is patience, while the kids we've recruited mature and develop.
Saying "we're 14th, so we must have a lot of garbage players to get rid of" is overly simplistic and infantile thinking. It shows a distinct lack of understanding as to the current status of our team list, and our recent history.

Why Francis Evans?
I was referring to Francis as a surname aka Aaron as he could play third tall and he'd be cheap I note we have the Dude as someone mentioned but free him as a running half back to drive us forward like Nathan Bock back in the day.

Port are operating under the delusion that they're close to a premiership, so they're desperately searching for missing pieces to complete their jigsaw puzzle. They think they're doing really well, as the box says "3-5 years" and they're hoping to have it completed in under a decade.

Adelaide are not in the position to be looking for "missing pieces". We're looking for fundamental building blocks - which is why we're going for quality (Dawson, Rankine, JHF (next year, hopefully)), while Port are busy throwing darts at the dartboard, but mostly hitting the wall instead.

Any interest in Narkle? Didn’t we want him a while back? Probably proven he’s not quite up to it?
Pretty hard to get a permanent midfield gig in a Premiership winning team with Dangerfield, Selwood, Guthrie, Duncan, Menegola, Parfitt at different times and several others running through there at times as well

I agree with the sentiment here. But I think Graham is a great building block for our midfield.

Is he a better prospect than someone else on our list... like say Newchurch?

Spots on our list are tight, but we should always be looking to improve.
