If we get Bowes we could re work the contract like we did for brodie.

If it’s 750k x2 we could make it 1.5 over 3 or 4

That's assuming he's any good. You don't want to repeat the Connor Blakely situation where a guy is earning $500,000pa and no where near your best 22.

Whately doesn't negotiate for Brisbane. If he does they should get someone else because he clearly phones it in since he has already tried to compare the Neale trade to the Dunkley one this week even though Neale was contracted and Dunkley isn't.

It didn't get done for whatever reason but it had nothing to do with Whately.

What the media report someone as being worth is usually pretty close to the mark though. It's all about PR, no one wants to lose the chess match.

We were never giving up 6 and 8 for Neale.

With Langdon, Neale, Cerra, etc we've hit trade week with a rough idea of what the trade will be and it's usually close. There's not many Lachie Weller surprises.

There may be some journalists who get trade prices correct close to the deal being made (usually because they have contacts) but Whately was literally spitballing when he said that much like he was this week with Dunkley and was completely wrong.

"The media" is literally hundreds or thousands of people, no way you can cherry pick something one of them said and make a trend from that, especially when its been shown he's been wrong literally in the last week.

McDonald to Horse at exit interview.

Good decision on Reid dick head
Bitch Slap Slapping GIF by absurdnoise
The mistake wasn't leaving McDonald out; it was not naming him sub.

That way you get Reid's first half possessions and McDonald could start playing at half time like he had through the finals. 😛

Geelong showing again today playing for unders is noble and required to deliver a flag

***** you Logue and Lobb, you’re both mercenaries and won’t be remembered after you leave the game

Yeah, I gotta agree with you. The looks of the Geelong players today, I'm sure, were more gleeful than when they signed their contracts. Might be the same look Griff has when he signs his.

In many ways it’s incumbent on us to find these types of people. Brayshaw, Serong, Young and Darcy all seem like they will end up being people who will take less than market value to help build sustained success. Most people lack the long term vision required to see this as an investment – in the club, their teammates and their own long term success.

It goes without saying that nobody like this (causality could go both ways) could be managed by Colin Young.

Geelong playing for unders is one of the biggest myths going round. It's probably the biggest gravy train going round. They get enormous benefits off the field from being royalty in the only team in a large region where football is king. And it would continue well into retirement with the perks they would get. People will laud Hawkins for playing next year on 300k, but he probably bought his massive farm/house for a huge discount, and will continue to receive a truckload of money after he retires.

Will Sydney be holding a fire sale? I want Heeney and Mills
Yeah I think so. They’re only one of the youngest sides in the comp and just made a grand final. Why not a fire sale.

I reckon they’ll gladly trade us two of their most valuable players for peanuts. I’m sure they would both gladly uproot their lives in NSW to move here also.

You could have just said "you don't think so,"

And yet we will be overpaying for Jackson.

I still think that

Honestly thought Cameron was almost invisible until the last quarter. Hawkins went pretty good though.

For me the game was won by midfield dominance. Not sure any of their mids bar perhaps Dangerfield would be on crazy money.

Unfortunately you can’t get all of the pieces through the draft, free agency and bargain trades. If we’re measuring success by premierships won, then it took until today for Geelong’s trade for Dangerfield to pay off – both in terms of what it cost to get him and what it has cost to pay him. Same goes for Cameron.

The advantage the Vic's club. The shear number of players heading to the state
