What Kinder's alluding to is the word internally at Geelong is apparently that they're more interested in Busslinger, Mackenzie, Ginbey, Phillipou, or other options rather than just taking the Geelong boy in Clark. For what it's worth I think he'll be best available at your pick, but I'm not sure he works with your midfield being well-developed and bringing in Bowes and especially Bruhn to play his role. Reporters that just throw Clark up for Geelong because of where he is from come off as lazy. I wouldn't be surprised if they went with him, but I reckon he's more likely to go to Hawthorn, West Coast, or Carlton than the Cats. But the Selwood comparison and Geelong Factory just make such a compelling narrative that it's a safe go-to for journos. We'll know more about what your recruiting team is thinking if you lot have ITKs leaking info on your board or when Twomey puts out his phantom since he's usually well-connected this close to the draft.
Pretty much this. In regards to the draft, I try to read widely and get involved in the discussion. The word I’ve heard from posters such as PMBangers, on the Geelong boards, reading Facebook groups is that Geelong are seeking to gain a KPP, not another midfielder. The reason for this is that they have just added Bruhn and Bowes (you’re paying $$$ for him so I doubt Geelong will intend to play him entirely in the VFL). Busslinger seems the more like option and if not him, then some of the other players. Clark will always be available as a trade target should he flourish into an elite player. But personally, I think the club rates him higher. The Clark rumour hasn’t been run by major news outlets as this is very contradictory to the information received during the trade period. And it does follow that Geelong probably would rather draft a kid they have space for in their team in the next few years and not someone who’ll be requesting a trade in two years’ time due to lack of opportunity. Clark’s not a Geelong supporter, either. His father is actually a player sponsor for Collingwood. I doubt very much he ends up at the Pies but if he did, I wouldn’t see him as a go-home risk. Geelong fans should prepare themselves for Clark not to be taken. Hawthorn, Essendon and West Coast have all been linked to Clark.
The HUN phantom draft isn’t the one that should be read into. Really only pay attention to Cal Twomey as he has the actual information, not wild speculation. The HUN are busy with the Victorian election so footy has to take a natural backseat.
Why do you say that?
