Of the two he looks more assured and a better prospect than Kallan Dawson… who looked very ordinary to me in the VFL vs Footscray last weekend

Blokes that come from non-traditional backgrounds offer take more time. It’s no knock on them at all it’s just the reality.

Yep, would be absolutely chuffed with El Nour. Have harped on about him being a potential Howe replacement before. Probably a ridiculously hot take, but I think he has the age, potential and current skills on his side to succeed in the team.

I'd be happy with either Dawson or El Nour, I'm not too concerned if they are more intercepting types than big gorillas. Not sure there is any big stand out for a bigger Roughead type in this draft?

Any chance Ramsden slips through for our second pick?

Ruckman/forward, 200cm, 92kg

Dan says: Brodie Grundy’s injury has uncovered Collingwood’s shaky ruck depth, while it is also sort of key forwards. It’s why the Pies could look to Murray, the brother of former player Sam, who played for Collingwood’s VFL side against the AFL Academy a fortnight ago. He impressed in that display in limited gametime, and has been putting up some big performances in the NAB League for the Murray Bushrangers, where he has spent more time in the ruck as the season has gone on.

I found it interesting that the article has Gold Coast taking Max Ramsden as a possible Witts replacement down the track, yet they picked up Ned Moyle this time last year, and he doesn't even get mentioned. I really liked the look of Moyle in our VFL side (and was sorry we lost him), and as long as he's progressing well enough Gold Coast shouldn't need another young developing ruckman at this stage.

Yeah, Moyle is developing nicely. Starting to dominate vfl now.

Sam Fowler hasn't been given much of a mention over the last week or so in this thread, and pretty much no-one (media) seems to be predicting he'll get taken. He's done everything right this year to deserve a chance, and it will be a bit unfair if he's overlooked, as it could only be his height that would put clubs off, surely?! I'll be a bit sad if our VFL side loses him, but he really should be on an AFL list.

Seems we’ve just unearthed the next bit of negativity about the club that’ll be widely peddled and accepted as fact on BF despite anything factual to support it. Should be fun.

Rookies are outside the salary cap

Anything we agree to pay over and above the nominated rookie salary isn’t though. It’s what allows us to keep players like Ginni and Checkers on a rookie list while still paying them their negotiated salary. Saves us about $80k per rookie from memory.
