VFL360 complaining that the AFL was crystal clear that if you arrive late to the contest then you’re in trouble without recognising that Rioli and Rowell arrived there at the same time or near enough to it

Robbo and Gerard still have no idea what they’re talking about comparing Robinson to Rioli. Robinson should have got off as well but they aren’t the same thing. One chose to bump when other options exist, the other chose to jump for a mark when the only two options that exist are squib the contest and await the barrage for being too weak, or follow through and contest the ball fairly (which he did)

So Jordan Lewis makes a coherent argument as to why Rioli did the right thing and the hosts go huh and straight to ask Eddie Betts his thoughts

For the record Lewis said 10 out of 10 times in Rioli’s position he’s going for that ball. Also said that Rowell put himself in a dangerous and vulnerable position running with the flight of the ball like he did

I think the Robinson suspension was dursmaa fault . You are taught as a kid to turn in the contest to protect your head and collide shoulder to shoulder. The reason why players don't turn and go head first is to win free kicks ala Joel selwood .

One of those weird, rare cases where I couldn't stand the bloke as a player, but don't mind him off-field

VFL360...

Leigh Montagna going against the grain at VFL360, saying that maybe Matt Rowell was carelessly going into a contest without protecting himself.

David King: It shouldn't rely on a tribunal.... "the AFL is trying to say 'this is wrong', and three part-timers on a tribunal are making the decisions".
Joey Montagna: "But isn't that the law system?"

I think what was scary was king and probably more so Slobbo was seeing to suggest that the AFL should have just come over the top and say this is our comp and rules and the one week stands.. crazy

Ramble time! Here's my read on things.

With potential litigation and financial ramifications down the line, the AFL are going to appear as much as possible to be dissenting of actions that can conceivably bring about concussion. At every opportunity, they will want their voice heard as that of a diligent and protective custodian in all matters of head-high contact. Their media arms will heed that direction, insomuch as it doesn't too largely conflict with their own personal and professional connections, which is where our issues start to arise. Because the AFL media conglomerate is so centralised and without a diversity of voices and interests, equivocation will be afforded to some clubs, while resolute stances can be more readily applied to others. Those who are to be known as 'commentators' and 'experts' are of course to some degree going to look after their own, to pander to and hear chiefly from their peers, but a lack of proper representation on the macro level means that certain grooves will be inevitably carved out as opinion, fact, intent, history etc. When unchallenged, these grooves become the bedrock of popular opinion within that realm, and so your average punter can without hesitation unwittingly laud the same action in one instance as brave, and in another as indefensible. When FoxFooty goes to town on Rioli, everybody (who matters) wins. There are no checks and balances, there is no risk, no-one bar the occasional player has any skin in even starting to be critical of the thought pattern. They're looking after player welfare, they're making the game safe, and as David King so pertinently says, 'the AFL is trying to say 'this is wrong'". This is a chance for their clutch of journalists to do so, without upsetting the nest.

Lewis spoke well so did Montana who explained it like he was speaking to some 5 yr olds ..

So Venables’ doctor who was recommended by the AFL treated 5 players (including Venables) while he was banned by the Medical Board of Australia.

Venables also stating a compensation offer has been tabled, that is nowhere close to what he is expecting.

Something smells off about the timing of these 2 news stories (which are getting nowhere near the coverage) and the extreme reactions to Rioli attempting a mark.

He's on the project right now

This was an hour or 2 before the Rioli incident. Rory Lobb getting called out by Lloyd for being too soft.
