Well don't criticise if you aren't willing to do the research yourself. I know you're likely upset that your favourite sports are getting thumped in the revenue stakes, but might be worth jumping on their forums so you can share your disappointments with like minded individuals.

I thought I was quite generous not including the 73 mill, but that's only because the others haven't disclosed their portion that is contra, as far as I know, gill is the only one to share that info.

Put up or shut up. Your post, your numbers .... you are in this thread to put down sports other than the AFL. Grow up.

Did I say $673m for the AFL. I meant $643m (the previous deal being $473m pa). And I just checked, to be sure and clear, my calculations were based on $643m.

Back on cricket, I have done some other calculations, purely regarding the first two weeks of this season's BBL (minus the Fox-exclusive games), i.e. 13 games from Dec 13 to Dec 27.

Avg FTA metro: 297k
Avg FTA regional: 200k
Avg STV national: 142k (it's closer to 200k for Fox-exclusive games)

Including streaming figures (Kayo, Foxtel Go), the total average audience for these games from this period was reportedly between 750,000 and 850,000. If we bravely interpret that as 800k per game, it means the number of people watching on pay tv was about the same number of people watching via streaming.

Two seasons ago, the streaming audience for the SCG Test was about 1/3 of what the pay tv audience was.

It seemed a pretty obvious and simple change to boost the BBL season. Crowds have returned post Xmas. Will return to the second place behind AFL for average crowds.

And, yes, was pretty chuffed when I saw they did exactly as I suggested.

For my next trick, 2031 AFL GF to be played in Sydney while the Warne stand is demolished and rebuilt. Lock that in.
The rumor is that the Shane Warne Stand will be pulled down straight after the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in 2026 and I doubt it would take 5 years to rebuild more like 2 - 3 years.
A bigger chance would be for Perth to host another GF at Optus Stadium around 2027- 2028.

The 2023 AGP:

'Four-day and race day tickets for 2023 sold out within a hours of going on sale in December last year and sales are said to be “months ahead” of the corresponding period for the 2022 event, pointing to another bumper turnout this time around.'

'Last year’s Australian round drew a four-day attendance of 419,114 at Albert Park, beating Melbourne’s previous benchmark which was achieved when it hosted the world championship for the first time back in 1996.

It did so despite the imposition of a crowd cap due to labour shortages which saw 128,294 come through the gates on race day, while Days 2 and 3 of the event were new records for the Victorian capital.'

With F2 & F3 on the card for the first time since the event became a fixture on the international calendar in Adelaide* in 1985, the international TV coverage of the Melbourne event will be significantly increased.

The West Australians seem to like the BBL but not test cricket it seems.

West Australians like winners, not surprisingly - Scorchers, Wildcats and the Heat.
West Australians don't like the test cricket given to them.
Perhaps there is even some animosity towards the WACA.

The tradition surrounding test fixturing is being challenged:

What has happened to Perth Glory ?
They have moved from a purpose built stadium to Macedonia Park, home of Macedonnia f.c., capacity 5k with temporary seating.
Their old stadium was built for the Force and now Perth Oval is ruined.
At least it's ready to be commandeered by any invading Pirates.

'Tennis Australia is on the verge of signing the biggest sponsorship deal in Australian sport — worth as much as $100m over five years with Kia.'

'Kia has sponsored the Australian Open since 2002 and its latest agreement – worth up to $20m a year – is set to beat sport’s reigning top deal: Toyota’s AFL sponsorship worth $18.5m annually.'

'Tennis Australia will get a further financial boost from next year after it recently signed a record five-year $500m cash and contra broadcast deal with Nine Entertainment through to 2029.

The Australian Open is a global event for its commercial partners, and it has broadcast deals with American sports cable network ESPN and Europort. It represents great exposure and opportunity for the South Korean car manufacturer to sell cars in North America, Europe and Asia.

The Australian Open‘s other major sponsorship deal, with Chinese liquor brand Luzhou Laojiao, is also up for renewal and is set to expire in June.'

I thought this was a temporary move while the stadium is renovated?

It's getting an upgrade due to the women's world cup.

The A-League has lost another kid to the international market:
'Teenage Socceroos star Garang Kuol will join the massive Australian contingent in Scotland after choosing Hearts to start his big-time football journey.
It comes as Socceroos captain Mat Ryan confirmed his own move to AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands from Danish side FC Copenhagen.

According to several reports in Scotland, Kuol, 18, will join the Scottish outfit on loan from English Premier League club Newcastle who signed the young gun to his first major contract.'

Any chance the critics here will comprehend what is happening here & its place in the international sporting landscape?

Having worked overseas and now living overseas you certainly see things from a broader perspective and that in my opinion makes you a better person. Good luck to the young man I'm sure he will enjoy the experience.

How is this impressive? The Scottish league isn't in the big 5. If this were back in the 2000-2010 era it wouldn't even have rated a mention, we had aussies playing in all the top leagues by the bucket load. If anything it shows the regression of Australian soccer (I think mostly due to the A league).

A-League clubs are essentially just farms for bigger and better clubs in foreign leagues, so in terms of soccer, we’re destined to always have an inferior product in this country.

He is 18. He got signed by Newcastle, but he isn't breaking into their team just yet.

So they farm him out to Hearts to develop until he either does warrant a place in their team, or has value on the trade market.

It's not like he is only in Scotland because no other league wants him, or because he doesn't have talent.
