These types of situations can also be the making of them. Giving them resilience and so-on. Think that’s far more like to be the case than it being a career-killer.
Jesus
A career killer FFS
Can we sign him as a replacement and have him kick goals and smash blokes?View attachment 1321784Another young defender out for the season we all know who did it..
125 goals a year for Sharman not badIn short, you need to be lucky ( high failure rate ).
It doesn't say much about it here , but i remember reading how the artificial fibrous material frays over time, and doesn't regrow like the natural ligaments. So they can potentially get you back on the track fast, but another reconstruction in the future is almost inevitable.
It absolutely made sense for Gemma EtheridgeWhatever happened to LARS? The miracle ACL surgery that was too good to be true
Athletes with ACL injuries once lined up for the LARS surgery, touted as a miracle cure capable of shaving eight months off recovery time — but it has since fallen out of favour.www.abc.net.au
If it was a 34 year old Cooper Sharman, trying to get the Saints over the line for their 8peat premiership and his 1500'th goal, you might say go for it , but not really suitable for a young fringe player.
Windhager no stranger to the ACL either.Thankfully he is still pretty young. I reckon Max will have some tips for him on how to handle the disappointment.
He’s resilient, he’ll bounce back. Many years left in his career hopefully.
What a bummer!
Edit ... might have crossed wires ...
Lenny did his first ACL in 2006
BGoddard did one in 2007
Then Lenny did his second in 2011 ... I can't recall any after 2011
What was the thing Malcheski had a few years back, Les Mis or something where they grafted the ACL and he was out for only 3 months? Is that sh*t still in vogue?
We never seem to do things by half measure. ACLs, broken legs, hammies torn off the bone, debilitating back injuries etc.
The Saints curse strikes again. The pessimist in me has been waiting for it. Let's hope it's the only one. Somehow I doubt It will be.
I'm not saying I'm superstitious. But I would tell King to stay away from any golf courses from now on.

Im not sure I’d go quite as far as cursed but you seem hell bent on giving any poster who suggests we’re unlucky shit for it, let them grieve man. It sucks and it does seem we’ve had a bit of a streak.Yes we are the only team to ever suffer from an injury. We are cursed, we are victims. Jesus
Invariably you need good luck to be competitive.Im not sure I’d go quite as far as cursed but you seem hell bent on giving any poster who suggests we’re unlucky sh*t for it, let them grieve man. It sucks and it does seem we’ve had a bit of a streak.
Hayes won the best and fairest the year after he did his ACLI definitely don't want this to be the case, but a player having a down year and then a season ending injury derailing his progress and shattering his confidence? We've all seen it before.
I hope Coff smashes it in rehab and comes back better than ever but the St Kilda fan in me hasn't been optimistic r.e. injuries (or a lot of things) since Lenny Hayes' ACL did the same in 2011.
Not every year, but the 200 goal years make up for the 99 goals years.
We cannot compare Leonard Hayes to mere mortals.Hayes won the best and fairest the year after he did his ACL
100000000000% agree.
Any footy fan who claims they won a flag without any luck is kidding themselves
I'm starting to raise a few questions about our pre-season training regimes.
Last year our season was completely derailed by the major injuries to key players in the preseason.
This year it is happening again.
This can't be just put down to luck or the football gods hate us...
I've watched a few Ratten strategy meetings and he focuses on ... spots are up for grabs, who wants it, this spot is yours if you beat your teammate... surely this encourages players to take unneccessary risks.
Thoughts?
