That’s not true. You might need to review the game. The only Geelong free kick goal in the first half was the down field free kick to Cameron just before half time.

What are your thoughts on that rubbish 50 on Doc?

Dangerfield milked that to a tee.

Changed the game imo.

That's what I thought live

I'll rematch.

Seem to remember a pushout in the goal square being paid at the non warnie end.

Pretty sure you're also talking shit.

They're dreaming.

Not saying umps lost the game but there were 4 goals directly related to frees in the first half (and that was before the extra bottles of wine)

I saw a Geelong player bounce the ball whilst being tackled on their HFF and it ended up being their free kick down the field. That was puzzling.

Frustrating game but then I think we can see how far off the benchmark we are. If you accept we are a top 8 but not a top 4 side then it’s about right. I just hope they can see how to get to the next level next season (as it won’t be this year).

Winnable games coming up to lock in September footy for the first time in what.. a decade? I’ll take that over recent years.

Still for me the Saints game was the disappointing one more than this.
The problem is this season is wide open.

We've played some games that show we're good enough.

Geelong is the worst top of the ladder team I've seen in 20 years.

They're clearly ok but shit they're not amazing at any facet of the game.

Melbourne and Brisbane eminently gettable. Freo in Melbourne is a wash.

We can still win the flag but we need our best 22 playing and to finally play well in a big game.

That maybe true but there were a lot of 50/50 or non calls which seemed to go your way that led to direct scores, it still wasn't why we lost though your more mature minds, big game experience, bigger bodies led to pressure which was too much for our team and we wilted, then turned it over a lot and you capitalized on our turnovers and scored way too easy.

That 50 should never have been paid.
I mean I'm trying not to blame umpires but it couldn't have been more one sided at the ground.

The crowd was shocked and then just gave up in the 3rd qtr.

The umpires are not the standard required.

I don't think they are cheats. They're just terrible at their job. I actually watcher their positioning for a bit tonight and they were genuinely blindsided to a contest so often.

They are just not professional standard.

I don’t think we will be in a position to win the flag unless all finals we play are in Melbourne and even then I’m not sure we stack up.

We are more likely to be our first week imo. But there’s some hope.

We'd need everything to go right but we ain't out of it

I think we had a crack, just outgunned. Too fumbly, their greater experience and size showed.

Our lesser players were shown up, and a lot of our better players were fumbly or ineffective.

Hard to see us going beyond week 1 of the finals on that showing, would need a lot to go right to finish higher than 7th.

Pitt, Gov, Owies, Martin and Williams back in would help, though still doesn't help weaknesses of lack of decent wings, goalkicking small forwards etc.

Really liked TDK,he's coming along beautifully.

Interesting to note Geelong didn't have a player with more than 26 disposals for the match, we had quite a few. They essentially forced us into screwing around with the thing and then efficiently moved it forward with quick accurate ball movement.
I think it was a 50/50 split of them forcing us in to screwing it around and us doing it to ourselves.

Disappointing. effort was there, definitely good pressure shown throughout. I thought some of our movement off the ball to create options for the player in possession was deplorable. Their transition on turnover from the defensive half was good, also probably looked better than it was because half our back line seemed quite dysfunctional tonight. Too too much disposal by hand at the wrong time from us too.

TDK, Walsh, Kennedy, Fisher our best. Not the team effort needed to beat an experienced outfit that will be contending. We need the next two weeks to be W’s. Making finals is a big big green tick, so let’s make it happen first and go from there. Thanks North btw

6 day turnaround travelling to/from Perth compared to 9 days for them after playing at home. That showed in the 2nd half.

Couple turning points, my one was early 3rd qtr and Harry dropped a check mark in front of goal sq, and Docs HTB then 50 horror calls..

Beaten by a side that has us comfortably covered at this stage.
It felt at the ground that we were both outworked and outcoached. They almost always had spares behind the ball intercepting, yet going the other way had one on ones and an open forward line.
Not too many winners on our side today.
Need to reload and beat GWS next week.

AFL umpires have no accountability. They are immune to player / media criticism and protected by there own - the AFL. The stupid rule changes complicate the situation further. Almost every game supporters are left frustrated with rules and umpiring decisions. It has gotten a lot worse this year with this dissent rule
