So we haven’t beat a decent football team for two months…hope the club don’t think they are anywhere near it
Club knows where they are. They also know we rarely had less than 10 players missing each week.

This probably hurts them more than making the finals and losing by 5+ goals to the lions.

Alot of growth for alot of individuals to occur over the summer and even more important as a team collectively.

First chance for Voss to cut his Deadwood and start to build his team

Take a deep breath. It hurts but it's only a game.
We were going to get smashed once again up in Brisbane anyway.

Missing the way we have might turn out to be a blessing. Feel the pain. Work harder. Get rid / limit game time of players who aren’t up to it.

Let’s be honest that intensity is the yardstick and we didn’t bring it too many times which cost us the season before this game. They will win many games if they bring that most weeks. The insipid games this year against the Suns, Saints and Crows are way more disappointing than this or last week.

I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the off season to improve the squad and who steps up further next year.

I will say though what a great couple of performances by Marchbank (and decent delivery this week). Just a good person to have out there in this defence. I hope he gets all 22 H and A games into him next year.

No. Durdin's and Charlie's brain fades had a greater impact on the result. Technically correct decision. All Jack had to do was hold his ground.

Are you okay? There's nothing correct about that decision at all, technical or non technical. It was incidental contact caused by another Collingwood player and the player affected wasn't even in the contest. It cost us a shot on goal that would've iced the game. Just because we made errors doesn't mean the umps should be forgiven/forgotten. They cost us a clear shot on goal and then awarded an even softer free to Collingwood directly in front of goal.

No guarantee we make it next year as well might I add. Some sides will climb up and some sides will have bounce back seasons. Really hope we didn’t blow our one chance
Don't see any reason why it would be our only shot. I get your point - there are no guarantees and we need to keep improving - but we are have a lot of factors that give us every chance of doing it: list profile, second year with a new coaching group, etc..

We would be considered at the beginning of our journey of contending rather than at the end.

Not liking the dumping on Charlie…. He’s been sensational this year, did more than most expected.

Do you think he wanted to miss those shots? Of course not, he bleeds for the jumper.

And don’t think I’m making excuses for him…. I cursed too, I’m as disappointed as everyone else but I guess I just don’t post those thoughts here.

I did let the loudest “F” word out when I got home…. Then my 5 year old starts copying, screaming “Arc” for the next five minutes. That was funny.

i agree about not blaming umpires...we *ed up... simple...

but just on jsos...a filth player pushed him into the other filth player so not jsos fault. nothing jsos could do really.
I presumed the ease at which Cripps marked that ball that he must have got an illegal shephard but that replay is disgusting, terrible decision

The one against weitering was there due to him looking at his opponent, he has to do better than that.

Charlie had a mare today. Really poor first half, looked like he could have torn it apart a couple of times but didn't take his chances and made some crucial errors (even the ball that bounced off his knee in the centre square, just had to do better and make sure he took possession)

On a side note, in relation to your kid, my nephew learnt the F word from me when I baby sat him as a 2 year old....

Didn't know he was in earshot when I gave it a good crack trying to fix something around the house

Here is the issue.

Just another 15 to 30 games. So what, 2024 now?

Just a 66 game rebuild...

How long you want to wait and excuse the club... we have enough "talent" and had enough time to get ourselves organized and in order.

At what point do we run out of patience.

Wait wait wait. Always waiting.
Guess what the competition wont stop for us, while we get it together.

Theyll innovate, and progress, while we wait wait wait

The one thing that the past couple of seasons has demonstrated (and this season in particular), is that the most valuable attribute in football is not talent, or how many “elite” players you have. Instead, it’s experience and consistency. How many players you have post 27 and how long the squad have been together for. Look at what Pies have pulled out. Look at what Richmond have done without Dusty. Look at Geelong. Even Sydney fall into that category because of how long their core have been together.

Unfortunately you can’t manufacture that. And we were a team with a new coach and several new players holding down important positions. Not to mention injuries undermining any chance we had at building that core during the season

One of the best set shot kicks of all time fev
And I recon he would happily come down to the club and give his advice
Was amazing, every time the ball was in his hands you were confident he would slot it - actually excited knowing he would- not the sense of dread & foreboding u get from out forwards these days

There will be one winner this year and 17 losers. We were not going to be the winner this year. The only thing that matters is we prepare ourselves well for a chance at a flag in a year or two. Today would have confirmed a number of positive things and a few negative ones. We have a game style that stacks up. But we lack polish and poise. Some say we choked but from where I sat we dominated large parts of the last quarter. We just didn’t finish.
Today was a final, and we were more than competitive.
Big tick from me for this year

This is by far the worst I've ever felt after a game.unhealthy...angry doesn't begin to describe how I'm feeling and really not good. Had to leave the house as I was getting out of control. When other things aren't going great in your life and then this the past two weeks, it's enough to almost send one over the edge. Not all about football, but it can seriously bring everything else to a head.

And if I see Giinivan one more time doing his baiting of the crowd, then claim the mental health card...go &^ yourself mate.
For what it’s worth…

Hey Pix, it can get that way sometimes. For some people their sporting interests are an escape from their real life challenges.
For others their sporting interests compound everything they’re already dealing with.

We become so invested in our team. Often we only see what’s right in front of our face. We have an immediacy bias. And the joy and sorrow are amplified to the extreme.

Please remember it’s just a game. I don’t know your story, but if you stop for a minute and remind yourself you have a hot meal to eat tonight, a warm bed, a healthy family, and your limbs work, then we don’t have too much to worry about.

Personally I’m the calmest individual you’re likely to meet, but I almost smashed my television today. But in the end, it’s just a game. Always remember that.

And yet he missed quite often, had days where he was quite inaccurate.

He missed in the game against the Hawks at the g for example

Then kicks the one against the crows from the boundary

We didn't lose today because of the umps, and we definitely didn't lose because of Durdin.

We lost because we didn't score a goal in the first quarter and we kicked 0.6 in the last

Technically you're contrdicting yourself. If the umps dont pay the free against SOS then Cripps kicks the goal and we end up with 1.6 in the last quarter and a win.

yeah i yelled out big time when i saw that. weiters you ........!!!!

Take it easy mate...We're all feeling your pain.
I was there with my 11yo daughter and was sitting in the pocket where Durdin had the ball in the dying moments. There were so many options and he executes the most horrendous one possible. Straight to Howe with plenty of space to initiate a fast counter attack.
On the way home my daughter was trying to tell me it would be worse to lose a grand final that way to Collingwood.....and maybe she's right, but the thought of even making a Grand Final seems so fanciful at the moment.
But you had the day together, you and your daughter - a beautiful day, a wonderful occasion, and both of you will always remember it. That's what matters, much more than not getting the result we wanted. Don't take it for granted - take a moment to smell the roses, and savour the shared experience. Maybe that's hard when we're all upset about the end of our season... but I envy you.

Does Cripps kick the goal?

You'd hope so but with him it's a 50/50 at best

In the end we'll never know due to what turned out to be a really bad decision.

But in the end, you can blame an umpire decison but we made alot more errors than they did. You can't fix bad umpire decisions, you can try and fix our errors and decision making over summer

Predictions are just guesses. Not based on fact.
Anyone who says they “predicted” we would finish ninth and is happy with the chokes that infiltrated the second half of the season is no doubt happy their wife/husband is only fantasising about Angelina when they are making love to you.

So that's a no, no prediction of what our season could yield. Pretty hard to measure a baseline, when one doesn't exist

People telling others "it's just a game" are off the mark. That may be how you see it which is fine, doesn't mean others will.

I am absolutely obsessed with and fanatical about this football club. My family has barracked for them for over 100 years. It means everything to me. To say its just a game is insulting.

Its also why you hear the tsunami of noise like you heard today in the 3rd quarter. It's our passion and it ******* hurts when it gives you very little in return.
If only we had Wayne Johnston playing.....He would WILL the team to victory !.
