I think this is a pretty unfair take.
Plow was 7th in the B&F last year, after coming 3rd (2019) and 4th (2020).

I'd say he's been looking good the last few weeks, because he's back to fitness, and there's actual pressure in the midfield, and structure and support around him.
This!!

Makes a big difference when the ball isn’t coming in a billion miles an hour while you’re defending the oppositions best small.

The benefit of those years is he can handle that speed, the negative is it killed his attacking mindset.

I reckon he has it and we will see it continually get better.

Imo Plow is a tough, reliable defender. I’m happy if he’s in the team. If we get everyone back and healthy, he’s under severe pressure.

I'll likely see Big Jack in the morning - and will make the effort to ask him...

And some weeks the card s don't fall your way...

Perhaps this will quell the chatter

No, not a one quarter issue Owies goal kicking has not improved from last year while others eg Cripps, Jack, Martin have done the work and gone next level.

Tipping, Motlop will soon be ahead of both

Hope so.

Atm, we have the 2nd best midfield after Melbourne.

Our guys in the machine room are grunting out 30 possession games.

That’s a standard we haven’t had in 20 years.

So, these small guys inside 50 have to produce on the scoreboard.

Truth. We have a legit engine room.

No doubt.

We don’t tag in the middle no more.

It’s good isn’t it? It’s not that our midfield is perfect - but at least we can now legitimately go THIS is what we’ve got, defend it, beat it, do your best but we’re pretty ****ing good!

I thought that was our best win for the year. Up against some adversity with injuries, they had plenty to play for at a place we have never won. Couldnt have been prouder of that effort, loved it.

I thought Plowman again was quite good yesterday. Not sure what it specifically is, but I feel as though he has just developed that slightly harder edge and confidence and its made him difficulty to plat against. Thought O'Brien was good as well.

Im not for whipping boys, but how good is it to have a team where you can feel like you can trust all 22 on the field to hit a target, to go when its their turn, to stick the tackle etc.

IMO he's a guy who has really benefited from our improved system - though he definitely deserves credit for his performances. Same could be said for pretty much all our players really, which is what good systems do.

We've lowered the number of I50's our opposition get, we've lowered the quality of them and we have other players like our midfielders pushing back to support and mop up at ground level.

Shoutout to Fisher. I didn't have many expectations for him this season and he seemed to have stagnated. It looks like he's dropped his left and right shimmy movement and then running into trouble from his repertoire. He's been extremely impressive the last month, creating lots of options and transitioning the ball by foot or by hand quickly and precisely. It looks like he's focusing on quick forward movement and he's also taking his chances when shooting for goal.

This is exactly what I see the last 3 weeks he is driving through and past the contest instead of trying to dance around a tin can.. looks like he hunting with intent .. I put my hand up after freo I thought his future was in the nutcracker..

Loving what Fish has been doing of late. Less 'show' and more 'go'...?

Whats Chris Johnson from the Northern suburbs of Melbourne, got against Victorians? Some of the offended against the commentators has been stupid.
so far that's 2 out of 4 he has mangled - has bt down as filth - think that's primary school speak for collingwood - didn't he play for richmond as well? that's 3 out of 4 where the conspiracy/bias fails - that leaves jude bolton - gee jude bolton is bias..........hilarious........

owies has to nail his shots - as someone said you can't be picked on your tackling - you can be the best fielder in the world but you have to bat or bowl as well

It's late, but I watched the game in its entirety today, after only watching the second half on Sunday.

I have a few problems. Our KPD/mids seem to keep punching the ball into the corridor. Our forwards don't seem to want the ball dropping in the most dangerous positions. Our smalls aren't always in the right spot to mop up, and when they are they don't want to hit the scoreboard. Oh, except for Sam Walsh. And Jack Silvagni. And Durdin.

I had zero faith at half time that we'd win this. On one hand, frees lead to their scores in the second term; on the other hand, umpires gifting them the ball is no excuse for giving your opponent quarter. You do not allow a beaten foe from the canvas, for gifting time to lick ones wounds and recover is itself a weakness. You give your opponent a chance to get off the ground and recover, you give them that opportunity to beat you. But that, in and of itself, is the best bit: we let them off the canvas, and we beat them all over again. We didn't just beat this mob once, we beat them three times; once, in the first term, twice in the third, and for a third time in the fourth when Jack kicked his second.

On one hand, I was taking the piss a bit earlier, but I am troubled by Weitering and Plow's (and Cerra, and Hewitt's) desire to knock or kick the ball back into the corridor from a dangerous position. Against a setup like Melbourne, Fremantle, they're just going going to mop that up and take wild advantage of you gifting the ball back in that way, but given how well we set up behind the ball in this game I can certainly let it slide. This game was the first game I've seen under Teague or Voss that we've set up adequately - not even well, just adequately - behind the ball at any point. GWS's players looked up and saw a wall every single time they took a mark or were awarded a free in the back half. This bodes well for the rest of the season, because our % is only poor due to the 100 points we've had scored against us; decrease our opposition's score and our % improves.

Well done to Durdin, Fisher, Jack and Sam Walsh. It's taken a short patch, but some of that was the best of Walsh; Durdin is one of our smartest footballers, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I unequivocally do not want him anywhere other than the front six; Fish and Jack are rewarding our side for trusting them.

All in all, one of the most satisfying wins I've seen us pull off. We've run into sides with every reason to believe they could get over us; our draw has (from the pretext of ladder position) been weak, but each side we've come up against has arguably had an excellent run with injuries save Port. We were always going to lose the ruck, but that we wound up winning the clearances was a testament to our tenacity.

Well done to Durdin for his rising star nom.

Vale Andrew Symonds.

Plow has his name on a locker for posterity, but still folks taking ridiculous potshots.
Do they know what it takes to get 100 games, anywhere, ever in the history of the game.
Turn it up.

I think it’s the old flyhalf ‘underplay your hand’ thing too, where doing it less means it’s more effective when he does go for it as it’s less predictable

I guess it is just the way I have dealt with being a Carlton supporter in the 21st century, but I had no faith in us getting the job done whatsoever yesterday. That win really made my day.

The really pleasing thing was it was an even team performance, very difficult giving out votes for our best players because there were so many very good contributors.
I must admit, this winning thing hasn't been a familiar feeling.

I think the weekend was the first time for years I was actually comfortable with a 4 goal lead. Normally with a 4 or even 5 goal lead I'm sh**ing bricks for the last 6 minutes until maybe 90 seconds to go. But on the weekend with ~8 minutes to go and roughly 3-4 goals up I was as happy and relaxed as I've ever been watching us play.

There's something different about this team, they're not coughing things up or as unstable as in the past, there's a resolve now.

Plowman somehow looks less clumsy than he has in the past. Not sure how one can gain coordination at his age, but he’s seems to have managed it.
Confidence is a wonderful thing. You could say the same about O'Brien, the first rd or 2 he was fumbling and falling over in a slight breeze but now he's much cleaner and keeps his feet. I hope they keep it up.
