Stocker’s going to be in the seniors sooner rather than later

Newman is/was always going to be a fill in depth player IMO once we got Stocker. Stocks has played seriously well of late.

Maher's been good in all this season's games . Cincotta goes alright too.

They play different roles, especially in our bsck half structure this year

Parks hands were great cleaning up his own turnovers in defence...

Philp and Kemp showed great signs, they just need to get AFL fit...

Those that want to delist Newnes are insane, his AFL quality depth, exactly what we need at the bottom half of our list...

Seniors doing well and the reserves doing really well. We haven’t had that in a very, very long time.

When you are in a position where you have selection headaches and don’t know who to drop from the seniors, while having 4-5 names from the VFL you would call up, you know you are doing very well as a football club.

Haven’t lost a game this year b/w 1’s and 2’s, even praccy matches

As much as I love our afl recruiting of late, the big difference here for our reserves seems to be also finally having a really good crop of real footballers.

Good to kick clear late.

Cottrell is starting to really put together a case to be promoted; he's too fast, can run too long, and is entirely too good overhead for VFL, and he loves a tackle. I had/have severe misgivings with him long term, but he's wiping them out one at a time.

He'd be fairly close to the best chasing player in our ones if promoted this week, and is averaging 24 disposals, 2.7 tackles and a goal a game as a wing. LOB is a better kick and reads the game better, but his position is under genuine threat if his form starts to drop off.

Good problem to have.

Good win by the 2s today. Stocker too good for this level, Dow again good as was Newnes. Kemp so-so, Mirkov learning all the time. There are soldiers lining up to replace any who go down or are MIA.

Actually Red, I think Cottrell is a better option for us on a wing than Setters. Lochie is on the way up and he will only get better. Pleasantly surprised by Cottrells improvement, always liked him. Just did not think he had the upside to be AFL standard. Beginning to think now that I was wrong.

Not picking on you in particular mate but why does there always have to be praise for one player at the expense of ripping down another.
Newman is a good player and Stocker will be also. End of story


Anyway great win. For years I argued that we will never fix the seniors till we fixed the reserves.
The bullants fiasco should never have happened.

I was really impressed with Maher today. Good physical specimen, is tough, reads the play well, makes good decisions and kicks with good penetration. A lot to work with there.

I agree with this! I think LOB is looking good, he is seriously elite by foot. I’m so comfortable when he winds up on that left that it’s going to be:
1. The right decision
2. Executed well Chef’s kiss

Would be more than happy to see him in for Setters tbh, hell even Newnes is a good option for Setters

It may be his way to get back in the team and stay on the list. Fisher was absolutely woeful today - Weller who was his opponent for much of the day was probably one of the top 5 players on the ground today - I could see Cottrell locking down on someone like that.

I thought Parks was really good. With McGovern missing think he needs to play ahead of plowman as we are really missing an intercepting backman.

Could be like Melbourne's Langdon, his disposal was very poor for a long time but had a tank. He's cleaned up his kicking and is great, hopefully Cotts will do the same.

Kemp playing in a very difficult position to impact the game, but good things happen when he touches the ball
Dow disposal better, was really the general that quarter
Stocker & Parks had less work, but seem a level above
Cottrell good, but feels like a tweener. Too good for VFL, but not good enough for AFL
Newnes is 100% insurance policy this year
Mirkov tap work is outstanding

Mirkov is a proper ruckman.
Why wasnt he included in the seniors if Pittonet was out?
