Overall happy.
Happy with the intensity
Happy with the physicality
Happy with the effort

However.
We looked slow.
let them get open too much at times.
went to sleep at times
Delivery inside 50 was shocking
Basic skill errors hurt us, especially early and in the 3rd.

Excited for the year. great to get a win early.

Please back it up against the dogs.

Not forgetting the incredibly hard work Sos did to get the list and financials in a position to really build.
People forget how long it takes to start a list from scratch, it’s all very well and good to say it’s better to top up than to full rebuild, but unfortunately not every team can start with a spine of 10 premiership players to add to.

I’m a little excited after watching last night’s game. The momentum we built when we controlled the game reminded me of all those opening games since 2013 when the boot was on the other foot. The Tigers were stunned.

Our midfield will be hard to stop this year. The strength of Cripps, Kennedy, Cerra and Hewett to stand up in contests and dish out the ball to the free man was awesome. 6 goals as well. Amazing.

The back half were solid. Saad and Doc were everywhere. McGovern made an impressive start.

Still plenty of work for the forwards to work out a way to make it work. I liked the smalls last night. I’m not sure 4 big guys will work.

I turned 65 earlier this month. No pressure boys but another flag would be nice.

Robbo's my hero how good was last night. Gotta love that last quarter with 7 goals in a row (i think it was 7 ).:thumbsu:
Maybe we’ll change the premiership quarter to the fourth. There’s something special about running over oppo when it matters.

But then the question is whether another player eg Philp, Carroll, even Willo - has more upside in that winger role....
None of them can kick like LOB nor can they run the repeat efforts he can.

What's the point of having more mongrel if you can't get to the contest in the first place?

After sleeping on it and rewatching it, Jack Martin was monumental in the 4th, that and TDKs ruck dominance in the last as well was a true sight to behold.

While he was poor, LOB's team mates didn't do him any favours last night every pass to him was wide or at his feet.
No doubt. Don't get me wrong, I'm in his corner. I just feel like he's over-thinking things, or winding himself up in other ways, to the point where he's not just "going with the flow". Hopefully he can get the point where it's all just happening on instinct, like his kicking.

Never read my posts properly, and summarise them poorly.

I don't care if he's carrying an injury, it's form or it's just his ceiling: he was trusted by his team mates with the footy and he was our worst player both with and without it.

If it can't be rectified over the week, he should be dropped, because we've got the depth to do so.

I've made my points on Kennedy, and both he and the execution of a game style that suits him has lifted, though perhaps Fisher is a player who pays the price of such changes.
Think that you've given me too much credit. I don't bother to read your posts properly. Pretty much know what they are going to say and the tone that it will be said in. You believe that your opinions are facts and present them as such. It must hurt to give Kennedy even the faintest modicum of praise.

As always I very much respect your opinions, but like everyone who has opinions (very much including me) they are sometimes wrong.

I'm honestly so confused whenever I hear people talk about Saad not being a good defensive player in the past.

My opinion from watching him over the years is that he is excellent defensively...with his speed almost no forward can get away from him and he does run down chase tackles.

I feel like that article Essendon released when he decided to join us, where they basically slandered him as not wanting to so the defensive stuff to make it look like no big loss cause they were in turmoil with him fantasia and danniher all walking out, has actually swayed peoples opinion of him which is disappointing.
I was dead against us recruiting him, I just didn't want those aholes from the hanger getting a leg up.
He's as consistent as Walsh, he does so many inspirational team lifting things every week, he is a gun an absolute jet.
