Dunkley is 191cm. That's a shock. Didn't realize he was so tall
List of our players that go through the midfield in height order
I imagine Tunstill will be about 80 kg after another preseason and expect him to get more AFL games in 2023
I threw in Cripps, Bont & Oliver as they are considered big body midfielders to compare to our list

Cripps19595
Bont19393
Berry19288
Dunkley19191

What would be the metric for the bet? (How do we measure that he shouldnt have been given another year?)
.
Surely it should be that he doesn't finish in the top 22 of average points per game in the B&F. If he finishes in the top 22, that means he's still best 22.

McCluggage is a lot heavier than I would have thought. Always looked a lot slighter than that. Would not have picked him being within 2kgs of someone like Rayner

Totally agree. The question is whether we have the right midfield mix in there to run both ways. For me Zorko, Lyons and Mathieson shouldn't be playing in the midfield unless we get injuries to our inside mids. It should be Dunkley, Neale, Roberton (tagging role) on the inside and McLuggage, Berry and Ashcroft on the outside.
Yep, about he mix and the mindset.

The one i can see playing is Lyons, but only if he is back to his best. Would at least need to be able to run a bit defensively.

We saw what a good inside mid can do in the second half v Melbourne. Berry was phenomenal, in i guess a soft tag. But he did the most when ball-hunting. To me this is how Dunkley can change us. Teams have previously just piled into Neale and gone a long way to beating us, especially in 2022. Geelong made it look easy. Berry couldn't manage to replicate his game. I am big wrap for him but he has not shown and ability to gather 25 each week. Dunkley can be a version of Berry vs Melbourne every week - not to that level but that is how he plays, tackles hard, ball-hunts, takes pressure off Neale. He's very physical so will get in and help Neale more.

I would send Berry to the wing with Robertson. 2 of our best runners. They are not purely defensive but they can give us that crucial cover in transition - covering their opponent and anyone else trying to exploit us by 'cheat' running. Prior would be my third winger doing similar. They are all good honest footballers not too hungry for goals for glory. Bailey can rotate through as well as our one very attacking winger just to keep our opponents guessing.

Default starting centre-square would be Neale, Dunkley, McCluggage. Others going through i would have Rayner, Dev, Berry and Ashcroft. I think Lyons is the first in if we have an injury but now couldn't quite squeeze him in.

I'll agree to set the bar extremely low for him at top 18.

So if i lose i have his mug as my avatar? And if i win...?
.

What if retires mid/end of preseason?
If you're using my suggested metric, he could still finish top 18/22 of per game B&F points. Obviously preseason retirement is a different story.

To all those that disagreed with this, we will revisit during the season...

.
Why do we have to revisit all the inane things that are said? We get it you don’t rate Rich.

Funnily enough the coaches and supporters with more than half an idea do as well.

7th in the B&F shows he’s better than your think

Just a discussion mate. If you arent interested in the topic, dont bother.

Look, i think Rich was great and served the club well. Cant remember him being in the media for the wrong reasons either. But the last few games he was being targeted by the opposition as they knew he wouldnt (or couldnt) work hard enough. He gets a lot of kicks from behinds which makes his numbers look better.

I get it people feel some loyalty to players, but clubs rarely do, which supports your point the club still rates him. I dont think im a better judge of where Rich is at that the Lions brains trust, but that doesnt mean i cant disagree with their decision. This is a discussion forum....

Technically I think there was a throwing a kebab controversy or something like that. Of all the AFL players that have done something wrong, wasting a kebab is pretty heinous

I think what drew the heat was calling him a list clogger amongst other things, which now seem to have been deleted.

Using terms like that or 'spud' when referring much a loved player here will usually do that.

Maybe try posing ideas as questions instead of broad, polemic statements; dlanod taught me that. ;)

And then it turned out it was all exaggerated to a completely ridiculous degree by an attention seeker.

Hopefully we can do some more deals in the next few weeks
...........
The draft pick swaps trade period started on Monday and will close at 5pm on Tuesday, November 15, nearly two weeks before the opening night of the draft on Monday, November 28. Clubs will then be able to trade selections once the draft starts at Marvel Stadium.

INDICATIVE DRAFT ORDER Check out your club's picks

The fortnight gap between the end of the pick swaps window and draft night allows clubs to arrange pick swap possibilities and then pull the trigger in certain circumstances.

Clubs will be able to trade all the way through the opening night of the draft, and then have another pre-draft pick swaps window for 45 minutes before the second night of the draft, where there has traditionally been a demand for selections at the start of the second round.

Brisbane could look to gather more draft points to ensure it is well stocked to match bids for father-son pair Will Ashcroft and Jaspa Fletcher

Does it though?
Or does that just mean that he is consistently playing in the 22?
Deservedly or not!
