Wouldn't be opposed to it at a bare bones price. A bit of money ball depth. Pretty much replaces Fiorini and Bowes in the VFL and is a soldier in he AFL if injuries hit

Was talking late last week a handful of people were asking for his email to vent frustration about Bowes and large contracts being handed out then losing draft capital to make it all go away.

Hey, if this is correct, then Camerons position is completely untenable (if it wasn’t already), we are talking millions over the cap if all these players need to be dumped. You can only imagine how much worse, it would’ve been if Rankine had re-signed.

No one really knows if we are that far over the cap though. It makes just as much sense that we offload reserves players on inflated salaries to re-sign players like Rowell and Anderson and maybe put a chunck of that in next year's cap, or there's a player we are still talking to for this year. It seems crazy but so is paying reserves players 500 +. Tough calls now but may well be the making of our first premiership

Totally agree - given that Bowes and Fiorini are off, we need some guys to replace them there. Blakely ticks that box as a bargain-priced recruit. See: Constable.

No way I'd be getting rid of Burgess. Can't imagine he is on much, so doesn't exactly open up the cap.

He can play forward and back.
Serviceable at AFL level. Played pretty decently defending Mcstay in round 6 and had a nearly game against Port Adelaide where he got his hands to lots but just couldn't hold on. Should have finished with 1-2 more marks and shots on goal.
Tried his guts out in the ruck last year.

Best forward in the VFL (and maybe in all second div comps) this year.

He is good, flexible depth, who couldn't possibly be on cap breaking coin.


The other 2you mentioned - I'm not worried if they move on.

There’s nothing for Corbett & Burgess to hang around for unless they’ve fallen in love with the lifestyle & happy to run around in the ressies.

They both know they are injury cover only.

Will only take a club to show them some love and a nice story they will be best 22 and they’re gone.

It is what it is. We have a few other guys rowing the same boat.
