Both Wiltshire and Humphries look like outside runners / line breakers.

It seem like we didn't rate Freijah or Hastie high enough as players to prefer them over the guys we did take (Edwards & Mannagh). Perhaps because we knew we could get Wiltshire and Humphries at the end and we rated them just as highly... or maybe the outside runners weren't as high a priority, and Wiltshire and Humphries were just the best options available when our picks came up.

We clearly didn’t rate them highly. None of the clubs really rated Freijah and Roberts for them to be taken so low.

I know nothing about Wiltshire and Humphries so time will tell. Just hope it’s not Wells being a bit too tricky by half going for the smoky. It’s very rare they pay off.

Wonder who was 190cm that we were looking at drafting.

They deleted the tweet with Humphreys as it had that instead of 182

I know nothing about them either, and yes it's likely neither of them make it. But it's probably pretty likely that at least one (and probably more than one) of Freijah, Hastie and Roberts don't make it either.

Wiltshire can play. He's not as out there as fox footy are acting. He's just still very lightly built for mature recruit. He has talent, if he can build his frame he's a chance.

Osullivan and edwards are our long term needed spine project players but the other 3 technically being mature agers plus stevens physically mature suggests to me we have drafted like a team that plans to play finals now-we are targeting the now as well as the future.

Wells just said Mannagh was a priority for us tonight.

What hes really saying without saying it is they were keen all year and wanted him as a rookie but after the GF that became impossible as we knew someone else would take him soon after our pick so it became the priority to get him early.

Still pissed Freo got Simpson. Hope we pry him back in 2 years for next to nothing.

Had we landed him, I'd be over the moon with this draft.

Knowing we took edwards and mannagh from under their noses makes me happy.

Very happy with this draft. We're the only club that didn't take only 18-year-olds. We took three players over the age of 20, and one who's 26.

Year after year 18-year-olds come and go, but clubs remain fixated on them.

No guarantees with the older guys, but surely it's worth a try to break out of the monolithic mindset. We've had great success with mature-agers in the past.

Reckon Mannagh is a fair chance to play AFL.

Mannagh will play round 1 imo (probably goes in my sc team too). Which will put some of the over 30s on their toes.

Stevens should dominate the vfl next year.

I think the pies would’ve taken him tbh
They seem to be now after mature age players like we have for years and I don’t blame them
It’s a good system

Maybe although freo were linked to him and have form with schultz switta ryan etc out of the vfl. Both were in the next few picks after 36 so we had to go.

Interesting...means we were never going for Simpson then.

Also means that the Pick 31 we got from Dodo was earmarked for him - which is why we were happy to do the trade.

No i think we wanted simpson at our r4 we were just hoping he would get through whereas we knew mannagh wasnt getting past the 40s. If we had an extra pick we would likely have grabbed them both.

Also shows we thought the draft was thin. Which fits with what we've heard multiple recruiters say.

It makes sense with covid that some of the 2020-2021 draft class fell through the cracks. Hopefully Wiltshire and Humphries are the right picks. And Mannagh just looks too good for VFL so deserves a shot. They're highly speculative picks but you can't criticise them for not looking outside the box.
