Doesn't Koch or the AFL elected board have power to veto a member elected representative?
The AFL do and I am Kochie indirectly through them.

A bit like the King though, they know it will create a shitstorm if they use it.

It wouldn't surprise me if Kochie tells Tredders not to bother as it will get vetoed.

There is no way that Koch has the balls to actually fight that fight if it comes to it though.

Koch doesn't, but the AFL does.

Why would the AFL reject an Australian Hall of Fame member and someone who was a member of its All Australian panel for 5 years???

People are s**t scared paranoid about the AFL banning someone who hasn't done anything to be disqualified.

...Because AFL and Koch are focused on the public profile of the club which helps generate appeal and revenue from new customers and corporates.

The drive for on field success is secondary even though it is detrimental to the current customer base.

Thats just pants pissing paranoia on your part.

Under what AFL rules do they stop Tredrea??.

The AFL arent that stupid to ban him when he has done nothing wrong and meets all the 14 or 15 pt criteria Port issue to every nominee for the board.

Koch at the AGM in February basically told him and every past player that the only way they can get on the board, is if they run as a member-elected director. He told Tredders to run for a position if he wants ro assist the club.

I hope Tredders does run, because the right people absolutely want him there, we're desperate for him to be there. Tredders has put his neck on the line to be our voice this year when other past players stayed silent or worse.
It could backfire if he doesn't get elected. Let's not underestimate the strength of Koch's manipulations and their effect on the happy-clappers. Tredders would lose significant credibility with the media and a component of the supporter base if he put up for election and lost.

That's a fair point. I guess he has a bit to weigh up.

I think he'll get in, I can't think of anyone else who might be tapped on the shoulder who would be close. Maybe Erin Phillips? He's an easy sell to a disaffected supporter base, and obviously it's up to us to campaign and push him over the line.

I think we have to take the chance. The creed is pretty clear on resting in idleness vs striving with all of our power to further this club's unexcelled achievements.

I'm much happier for the talk to happen behind closed doors than in the media. At least then I know it is happening.

The current regime seems to be totally wedded to Ken and that really needs shaking up.

if you add Warren to the board he will become a rotten apple, he can't magically un-rot them all. but he knows that, he will never nominate

Or the counterpoint is some of them aren't enamored of Hinkley, but don't have the standing/guts to stand up to the clique themselves and would feel comfortable 'just agreeing' with our Premiership Captain raising the issues.

Courageous players don't worry about losing, they worry about competing. They go attack a hard ball first.

If the club pulls shenanigans to stop him, they will be scared for life and it will cause a massive split.

When football talk comes up - who is going to argue with him on the current board?? Snowdon maybe?

The lack of footy experience is why our board members haven't rocked the boat. They back the "professionals." Tredders just needs to get one, then two, and then three others, to regularly back his stance to start to drive a change. If no one backs him, he can resign telling the supporter base, they just don't listen.

Depends. The Board I was on had a similar vibe. The MD was running the business, had stacked the boards with trusted confidants and the chairman and he were best buds.

When I attempt to create accountability parameters, who was the one being bullied off the board? Clue not the chairman. I tried my best ended up giving up and leaving after 6 years, the Ivory tower was too strong.

I see Ports structure in a similar light.

Yep, nothing ventured, nothing gained, as the old saying goes.
