When football talk comes up - who is going to argue with him on the current board?? Snowdon maybe?

....
Ransom. Koch is more likely to listen to and push the point of view of a globally renowned speaker, corporate consultant specializing in disruptive leadership and West Coast supporter than a former player who needs to learn about Port Adelaide.

Depends. The Board I was on had a similar vibe. The MD was running the business, had stacked the boards with trusted confidants and the chairman and he were best buds.

When I attempt to create accountability parameters, who was the one being bullied off the board? Clue not the chairman. I tried my best ended up giving up and leaving after 6 years, the Ivory tower was too strong.

I see Ports structure in a similar light.

I guess if the same happens here, Tredders has the ability to go public with his frustrations and bring the club into disrepute on governance issues, hopefully weaking Koch's vice like grip.

Perhaps the reason we have so many threads on Board related issues is that the majority of everyday Members have become pissed off with the 'vanillarisation' of the PAFC and want the Board to lead us in what should be our core business- winning games of football. Maybe there are a lot of people out there who, like me, want to be a Member of a football club and not a contributor to a community based charity organisation.

Back on topic...

If Warren Tredrea doesn't nominate, and there is no guarantee he will, I would settle for George Fiacchi having a second crack at it. George has the runs on the board (excuse the pun), as he is not a 'yes' man. Erin Phillips I am not so sure about. I would like to hear a bit more about her views on future direction before supporting her. Electing past champions simply because they are past champions has it's problems as witnessed with Wangas time on the Board.

I have a feeling Tredrea won't nominate because he would see he has more chance of getting up Koch's nose publicly in his media role than he would have sitting there as a possible lone voice at the boardroom table.

As you suggest Wanganeen was a complete non event who was obviously used by kok to garner the member's vote, George Fiacchi has gone on record for saying how much he disliked sitting there listening to the bloke ramble on for hours so not sure he would want to put himself through that again, and Erin Phillips is at this point in time an unknown.

Erin definitely has the credentials for the gig and if she stands independent of any influence could be a real asset, but if she does nominate and it's with koch's approval, I won't be holding my breath in the expectation of any major changes.

Post-covid incident, Tredders became pretty much a non-entity in the media. Criticising Port/Ken/Koch (justifiably) gave him a bit of exposure. If he became a director, he would need to stop talking about Port and become pretty much anonymous. I don't know what other business deals he has, but the guy needs an income, I suppose, and I don't think he'll risk the minimum media relevancy he still has to be a director at Port.

I am not bagging him, just to be clear; I am just looking at it from a pragmatic lens.

That is a pretty good summary of the state of play '54. The problem is Koch actually thinks he has the majority on members on side. Under Koch the PAFC is trying to be all things to all people instead of focusing on the business at hand. You are probably right re Tredders being a lone voice but it would be nice to know that someone on the Board was raising questions about the direction the Club is going in.

How come when Jason Dunstall and Dermot Brereton were on Hawthorn's board for years, they didn't stop their media commitments which included talking about a poorly performed Hawthorn in Clarko's first couple of years, as well as in later years as well as the year Schwabb was sacked??

Why should Tredders be different?? Yes he can't be as blunt as he has been, but he can still criticise like the above two did.

McGuire and James Brayshaw were different because they were Presidents of their clubs so they were the face of the club and spoke out in their roles as President, and also in the media, but did a lot more positive spin than criticism of their clubs.

Bloody hell I forgot Ricciuto has been on the crows board since 2014 and has been able to manage his media commitments and speaking about crows problems.

Who are the other board members? ultimately you want someone with a skill set that is needed, and can politically deal with the personalities currently on there? If it’s fans voted, this is an important part of it, I’m not sure Tredders would represent the fans/public or just his own self serving nature. Just saying.

It could backfire if he doesn't get elected. Let's not underestimate the strength of Koch's manipulations and their effect on the happy-clappers. Tredders would lose significant credibility with the media and a component of the supporter base if he put up for election and lost.

Both board members and high ranking people within the footy department at the Club have privately acknowledged if Warren runs, he is a shoe in for the spot.

Koch
Jamie Restas - corporate lawyer
Cos Cardone - media entity tied to Eddie
Kevin Osborn - corporate banking, on a bunch of company Boards these days
Holly Random - professional disrupter
Tara Page - CEO of RAA
Greg Columbus - CEO of Clarke Energy
Rob Snowdon - former footy manager now consultant. Strong ties to Josh Carr.
Kathy Nagle - CEO of Western Hospital the last 20 years, current member elected director whose position is up for a vote at the end of the year.

The first four have been on the Board for over a decade. Their time is nigh.

Lol holly ransom literally serves no purpose yet has likely been one of the most destructive. The social media and marketing absolutely reeks of her bullshit.

I don’t have any inside knowledge, but she always gets mentioned and thanked for the work she does with our women's team.

Yes she has been the director in charge of the committee steering the AFLW program, first putting together the W program's early administrators and the bid for a licence to the AFL, then building the program once the licence was issued by the AFL, and being Melbourne based, she has worked closely with the AFL on the W competition.

Yes we started a long way behind, but it's not like Random has done anything particularly amazing with our Womens team. On-field we are comparatively below pretty much every other club that started at the same time as us.

Success = winning on field. Everything else is failure. That is the mindset that is needed from the board.

Tredrea has about 15 red flags but at the end of the day we need some sort of agitator on the board who is going to lick Koch's boots and for that reason alone I will be supporting him if he runs.

That being said anyone who disagrees with Koch doesn't seem to last very long so it remains to be seen how much good it will do.

He has been trying that for a couple of years now but all Koch does is laugh at him and belittle him.

There are people in this thread who have very good information and have actually played an active part in pushing Tredders towards a board position.

Everyone who seriously wants the club to be back in the business of winning premierships should be 100% supportive of Tredders joining the board.

She was on the 3 person committee to appoint the first alfw coach. How she has any credentials to select a football coach is one of life's mysteries.

And what has been the benefit of this work to the PAFC?

Holly Ransom is way more qualified to be on our board than Cos Cardone.
The average person off the street is more qualified to be on our board than Cos Cardone. Anybody who isn't employed by an influential man who is actively and publicly fighting directly against our club's interests would be an upgrade.
