I reckon itll be cassisi they put against him

Koch said he didn't want to make a captain's call in February because he didn't want to pick Club legends against Club legends. If the Club tries to put up a Club legend to go up against Warren, Koch will essentially be putting two Club legends up against each other for the members to pick. It would be beyond hypocritical.

Yes but it's Koch.

Even if you’re not sure about Tredrea’s candidacy, the prospect of a genuine dissenting voice (DiSrUpTiOn Queen™, aside) in that room of handpicked football-illiterates and vetted yespeople can only be a good thing.

Will be interesting to see what Koch's strategy ends up being here and it will be interesting to see just how much sway he has on the less engaged theatregoer portion of the membership base.

A part of me feels like the vote will be where we work out if the prevailing view on this BigFooty board is reflected in the broader membership base, or if the happy clapper sentiment is larger than we think - if another Koch nominated Yes-man gets elected then really his stranglehold on the club gets tighter and we go further down the teal lined Southern Power 'lets just be happy to exist' road he's set on - if Tredders gets on then there is a flicker of hope that we can get the ruthlessly driven for success Port Adelaide we want back. This could be a massive sliding doors moment for the club.

I hope enough people do the right thing and we get Tredders onto the board, but my fear is that the great unwashed of the membership base continue to eat up whatever offal Koch feeds them and we slide further away from being Port Adelaide.

For anyone concerned that the Club would try to get someone like Erin to run against Warren, why would they agree to that in the first place?

Every single potential candidate who could go against Warren (as a former player) would know exactly what his contribution has been to the Club and how revered he is by the supporter base. Why would you want to potentially be the reason there is even more conflict surrounding the Club?

I could understand Dom wanting to run because he's a w***er of the highest order who publicly criticised Warren's untenable comments despite not even listening to the comments in full (he made assumptions from the headline only and has admitted that privately).

Board members and high ranking officials within the Club have acknowledged privately that Warren should be a shoe in anyway, so I don't think we have much to worry about regarding any potential handpicked candidate.

The smart play from Koch would be to move Kathy Nagle to Cahill's vacant position, and have Warren elected unopposed via the members position. Of course, ego gets in the way and we know Koch's ego is almost as big as his nose.

Kock was on AA this morning (I missed it though)

Does anyone know what was discussed regarding this ?

(I can't believe what he said responses will be deleted)

The entire interview was about Warren and the Board.

When asked about how he felt about Warren running for the Board: "I think it's absolutely terrific."

Comment summary

1) Overall thoughts

Absolutely terrific, we encourage all of our legends of the club to run for the board in our member elected (role)

2) In response to his thoughts on a vote for Tredrea being a vote of no confidence in Hinkley:

I wouldn't see it that way at all, a vote for Warren is a vote for his football expertise like it was for Rob Snowden. For Kathy Nagle, it's a vote for her expertise in risk management and people and culture issue which has gone so well for our club.

3) On the restrictions of media statements for a board member

Every director that comes onto the board has got to sign off on a charter that I have of board values, behaviors, and beliefs. There is a code of how directors should act or perform, otherwise, it just creates confusion. We've had great boards over the past 10 years. It wasn't a problem with Gavin, it wasn't a problem with George, it shouldn't be a problem with Tredders.

There was also a bit on how well the board has done the past 10 years.

Very straight bat, mentioned there were 20 candidates and it was a good crop.

To be clear, he mentioned that 20 people had expressed interest not that there will be 20 candidates on the ballot.

If Koch is not keen on Tredrea getting on the board, he'll throw a third or fourth candidate into the mix to split the vote. Would make it easier for them to fudge the numbers.

I have a modicum of doubt over the contents of his responses when articulating his professed opinions on the subject.
Hope that's better! :tongueoutv1::sneaky:
