Flicked over to AA as I was driving home this arvo. Rowe said that in yesterday's show, he said he would buy a Port membership so he could vote for Tredders.

He said that today he received an email at 2.37pm from the Port membership department inviting and instructing him how to join up - so he said he thought he'd better after mouthing off yesterday and he paid up this arvo. So he is expecting to be able to vote for the up coming election.

He followed up in his typical manner, and said he is tossing up if he votes for Tredders or the biggest peanut who stands as a candidate.

Putting Rowe's BS aside, that means if you weren't a 2023 member, but join up for 2024 before the voting period starts in late January, then you are eligible to vote.

So if you are contemplating renewing your lapsed membership so you can vote, then ring up the membership department and do a Ronny Raygun and Trust but Verify and ask - am I eligible to vote if I sign up, Stephen Rowe joined up and he broadcasted on his show, that he is now eligible to vote??

Does anyone actually trust the club to count the votes fairly? I don't.

It's run by Corpvote who are an independent company. The Club don't run the election at all, they just receive the results.

If tredders doesn't get voted in it's just proof the club is 100% ****ed.
If Tredrea doesn't get voted in I'll never support the club again.

I'm on my last legs with it as it is. I went from being a die hard Port Adelaide tragic who'd travel from Perth to Adelaide and Melbourne 2/3/4 times a year and I was a regular poster on here. Then I moved to Adelaide in 2017 and saw what a lie the whole club is now. I refuse to go to games, buy merchandise, bother letting the club affect me anymore or anything while Koch and Hinkley are there.

If Tredrea who is the last hope of the club being Port Adelaide again doesn't get voted in I'll walk away all together.

I'd much rather listen to my Dad tell me what it was like to play for Port Adelaide in the brief period he was there then put up with the future of Port Adelaide if Tredrea doesn't get voted onto the board.

Him and Leon are the first ruckmen I remember, and 8 years is a decent innings.

But yeh if the AFL use their right of veto on this appointment I'll probably move from disengaged to destructive.

Got a reply today to an email I sent the club last week:

Thanks for your email. The AGM will be on February 9th, however you needed to be a member in 2023 as well in order to vote. Most of the membership team is away for the Christmas break, however I’ll follow up with them to see if there is anything we can do about this.

Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime.

Thanks,

Joe

I was also of the opinion AM's dad was Paul Marrett, but his comment re him only being at the club for a brief period could suggest it wasn't Leon Milde's ruck partner Paul who played well over 100 games for the Maggies in his 9 or 10 seasons at Alberton, and could be M. Marrett ( Michael?) who played a couple of league games in the late 1970's.

I have a vague recollection of M Marrett being a bit shorter than Paul and he had a mass of thick reddish hair and a full beard.

Murray Marrett is my Dad he wasn't at Alberton for long, Paul is my Uncle.

Wait - so you needed to be both a 23 member and now a paid up 24 member to be eligible to vote? That doesn't sound right.

That's what it looks like - my question to membership was about what date I would need to sign up by to be able to vote and I mentioned that I wasn't a financial member in 2023. Maybe Stupid Rowe was a member in 2023. Maybe the reply I got was from the janitor.

RussellEbertHandball has confirmed previously you have to be a 2023 member to vote iirc.
That's what I said before Rowe joined up as a 2024 member so he could vote for Tredders.

I reckon the deal is, a paid up 2023 member who isnt paid up in 2024 yet, gets to vote and

a 2024 member who has paid up now, but wasn't a member in 2023, also gets to vote.

I remember Murray playing some reserves games on the tv - possiblypossibly a couple of league as well?
Shorter than Paul, wiry, socks down customer, with darker hair plus beard.
He played two league games for Port in 77. I stumbled across the highlights of his debut on YouTube a while ago. He went back to Mount Gambier in 78.

And for the other poster yes Peter Marrett was my grandfather.

Email sent out by CorpVote tonight, giving a heads up of eligibility to vote and that sometime on Thursday eligible members will get a follow up email to go thru the electronic voting process.

Port Adelaide Football Club Member Elected Board Director Election 2023

I separated my two memberships in my name only to be one in my name and one in my wife's name. Of course I only received one email from Corpvote rather than two. My parents did the same last week and they too only received one email from Corpvote.

So we will be contacting the Club to rectify the situation tomorrow morning. The Club is doing everything it possibly can to restrict voting rights to its financial members. All to keep its only premiership captain at AFL level away from the Club. You couldn't make this up if you tried.

Thats the situation I'm in and I have 2 voting forms.

When did you split the memberships, I'd suggest if it was after the 2023 membership cutoff any automated system wouldn't identify it.

Did it last week. The Club website said I needed to have split the membership names by yesterday for both memberships to have a single vote.

It'll be sorted this morning when I call them at 10am.
