Kyle Langford has to be in serious consideration.

all the hubbub about darcy moore at the start of the season is justified, but he's been absolutely eclipsed by scilily as an intercepting defender. he can do it all, it's very impressive
Agree, but he would be tested more if he played on someone like against the Saints. Moore does play on someone and because our midfield is so shyte he and his fellow defenders are always under immense pressure. Think many defenders would struggle in our outfit.

After this weekend I’ll happily add in Gulden as a lock for a wing. And I think Libba is a lock now also. So I think I’ve got 3 spots left …..

Although Houston had a mare today and Darcy Moore has been pretty diabolical on and off for a month now, so some ‘locks’ may come undone the way they are travelling …..

Agree about Gulden. One interesting point is that when someone like Taylor misses 7 games he minimises his chances of playing some poorer games, yesterday he was a bit average. As for Moore, he was below his best yesterday but still leads all comers for intercepts and 2nd in contested marks is not bad either. Ahead of the highly rated Weitering in both. Wonder how Weiters would go playing in a team which is losing clearances by numbers like 18 to 3.:)

Nic Newman has to be a chance…squad at the minimum

Stewart Taylor Sicily
Daicos Weitering Sinclair
Gulden Bont Daicos
Petracca Walker Rozee
Greene Curnow Langford
English Neale Liberatore

Gawn Butters Merrett Dawson

Don't like the forward line but the small forwards this year have been pretty damn ordinary. Ideally have a couple of genuine small forwards in there like Kozi or Papley

Papley was playing with a broken rib most of the season and is only just beginning to regain his 2022 form.

I am probably going to be the ultimate jinx here, but could Bontempelli realistically shake the record of 8 All Australians? I can't see him falling off a cliff in the next 4 seasons, and he'll have 5 at the end of this year. I think at a minimum he should equal it.

He had a down year last year but despite that there's a fair argument that he should've had a jacket last year.
Gawn is looking like he might grab his 7th this year. Could have a couple more in him too if he stays healthy.

Half way through the year I would've called you crazy.

I don't think he gets the jacket this year (perhaps on the bench if they opt to choose two rucks, which they could do given both Tim and Max offer great marking ability around the ground). If he plays at this level next year I don't care what Tim or anyone else does, they're not getting near him.

Yeah, he wasn't near it during the Grundy experiment. I also wouldn't consider him likely this year except that we're looking like we might finish top 2 and Trac is our only AA guy. I imagine the selectors in that scenario scratch around for a second AA guy from the team and Viney/May are further back plus Max has a big media profile.

Squad? If you're telling me there's been 7 defenders that have had a better year than he has, they should all be Hall of Famers.

It's going to be a strange team this year in that the top teams won't dominate the best 22. I can't see anymore than 3 players from any particular team making it and a top 4 team like the Lions may only have 1 (Neale?).

Pies - N Daicos, J Daicos (50/50), Moore (50/50)
Demons - Petracca, Gawn (50/50)
Lions - Neale, Danniher (?)
Port - Butters, Rozee, Houston (50/50)

N Daicos 50/50 ? No way he is 110 percent in.

Daicos is 100% in. Missing 3 games + the weekend won't be enough to get him disqualified. Even if it ends up being a bench spot, he's going to finish on 30 votes with 19 games (with 13-14 of those elite).
