The RL Gold Coast Titans are ave 19,946 this season so it would be possible that a winning GC Suns could ave 20 +as there are tens of ex Victorians who live on the Gold Coast who could be lured into following their local AFL team.

Just for context the GC Titans crowds have consisted of:

14,483
12,452
26,563 vs Broncos
46,835 @ Suncorp (for Magic Round)
18,736
10,232
18,335 vs Dolphins
15,363
16,516
20,877 vs New Zealand

The games I didn’t identify are against Melbourne, North Queensland and the NSW teams.

There are still two home games vs Sydney teams to go.

This is an average of 20,039.

Remove the magic round game and the average is 17,062.

Melbourne and Hawthorn haven’t had more than 49.9k since 2011.

This week, it is Melbourne’s first home game since round 19 and our final one for the season. It is a Hawthorn replacement game and they are on a massive high after the last two weeks.
Plus it is the pink lady game, would be expecting that it may get over 50K. Similar to the BCNA game in 2018 where Melbourne Sydney got 52k. The Pink lady that day brought 15,000 people who were not there for football but still were counted in the crowd.

Pink Lady should been kept as Dogs vs Melb and well as being aflw pioneers. Why my club is so lazy to not push for these things I don’t know.

The nrl love magic round it over doubles their average attendances by stealth.

Pick any of those CBUS stadium games and watch the highlights and tell me the crowd is more than half what they'v claimed

Crowd: 39,350.

A stadium with a ticketing process that isn’t working. As memberships increase, available pre sales ticket availability decreases, and lower show rates result in lower watermark official crowds.

What will come if this will be fascinating.
Yikes, something really needs to be done about how ticketing works there. This has to be priority for Dillon in the off season

You can get away with this at the G, due to 100K seats but at Marvel people are missing out. 39K for 1st v 2nd, is unders but if seat holders don't turn up what can you do? Doggies V Tigers 2 weeks ago at Marvel got 39K, I guess with dogs having not as many reserved seat holders, it allowed for more GA to be sold.

That is pathetic and 14,000 below what it can hold for AFL matches - you could see there were plenty of vacant seats.
So much for the supposed "Magpie Army" who would follow their team anywhere!

I think even for Collingwood's big crowds at the MCG this year it always looked like the season ticket holders in the ponsford was the most sparsely populated parts of the ground. Suspect there are just a lot of the wealthier fans who can buy premium memberships for grand final access but don't necessarily go to a lot of games. Just a bit more exposed at Marvel

That was Collingwood's last home game for the year and saw them set a new record for home game attendances in a single season of 721,696. This beats the previous record of Collingwood in 2010 by 25,880.

Collingwood also set a new record for average home game attendance against teams from different states. 6 games at an average of 56,046 beats the previous best of 53,402 by West Coast in 2019.

Collingwood have also surpassed the previous record for all games in a season with a game still left to play. They currently sit on 1,311,483 which has gone past the Collingwood 2010 total of 1,306,461. No other club has ever reached even 1,200,000 before.

Even more ridiculous than those figures is that there are still people who question whether the Magpie Army exists.

So where was the "Magpie Army' tonight? This was 1st v 2nd playing on a Friday night and they couldn't get over 40k.

Stupid question. Had the capacity been bigger the crowd could hv pushed 80k. The issue is reserved seat holders and general admission areas. Marvel is too small of a stadium for a big game like this. I’m sure 40k people who would normally go missed out tonight

This. If there weren't such roadblocks for the general public it no doubt would've nudged 50,000 tonight.

Yes, this one game being 2-5k below expectations certainly invalidates the rest of the games this year, which have been at a level never before reached in the history of this league. Not to mention the other decades worth of data.

Also, I’ve never heard a coherent argument as to why the game being on a Friday night means it should get a bigger crowd.

Member reserved seat returns policy, reserved seating ‘bays’ instead of season seats. They need to do something.

That’s another factor why crowds at this venue are, pound for pound less thst the MCG. There’s more hoops to go through to actually go to the venue as a fan. You have to actually pre purchase seats (1), you have to usually pre purchase seats earlier and try and plan your lives further out (2) and fir all that, sit high up without any possibility of sitting low down. It’s just a less accessible stadium, period.

Wasn't it sold out though? I find it hard to believe that so many would have gone through the process of pre purchasing seats and then not showed up.

It's just bizarre to me that over 10,000 people with seats have chosen not to go to a top of the table clash.

Yes it was. The issue is, home clubs sell so many season reserved seating packages. Approx 50% of these are actually used for any home game. There’s no seat returns process to enable these seats to be occupied on the night. That’s why there’s 14-15K empty seats at a ‘sold out’ stadium. For big clubs, they have between 15-20K of these seat membership categories. That’s the issue. It’s becoming increasingly a problem at the MCG too.

Next week, we have Essendon (home team) selling out their home game against Collingwood. Between both these clubs, there’s about 30,000 season reserved seat members. Given there’s only around 55,000 seats in the sections excluding AFL / MCC / hospitality areas, this means Essendon probably only sold around 20-25K general public seats this week before declaring the game sold out to the public.

A sellout. If Essendon lose today which I believe is highly likely (😄), we may only see 65-70,000 at a sold out MCG next week as both sets of ckub members decide it’s a full dead rubber contest.

I like the reserved bays instead of seats idea for the MCG but we should go further for our home games at Docklands and make it opt in for members to attend.

Any amount available midweek before the game, even within those bays, to go on sale to the public.

Our members can’t complain too much given large amounts of them demonstrably aren’t using the seats anyway.

Plenty of reports that GA had plenty of empty seats yet members were told only a reserved seat would gain entry.

The same happened on King's Birthday. Members were told there was no general admission and a reserved seat must be purchased. Come game day the general admission bays were half empty.

Maybe a system when reserved seat holders have a certain time period to redeem their tickets before they are released to the general public or GA collingwood members

Massive ratings last night with 80K in Brisbane and the pre and post game shows making the top 11

Obviously a top of the table game but you'd have to wonder if there is a bit of a halo effect from Matildas games. Channel 7 almost had 40% audience share which is huge with just one non-finals AFL game on
