Can't get away with it in either stadium. We need a better system to ensure that people who want to attend on the day can do so, whilst members can sit in a members area. Think the answer is reserved bays and opt-in for expected sellouts but it's going to take someone with a lot of balls to sell it to the rank and file. You can get away with this at the G, due to 100K seats but at Marvel people are missing out. 39K for 1st v 2nd, is unders but if seat holders don't turn up what can you do? Doggies V Tigers 2 weeks ago at Marvel got 39K, I guess with dogs having not as many reserved seat holders, it allowed for more GA to be sold.
They get a guaranteed 5 away games at the MCG in return. Think they'll be fine with the current arrangement.Pies shouldnt be forced to play at Marvel anyway
Two different GAs being conflated. If they sold any ticketed GA seats they still need to hold GA bays for these people. If those people don't show up, those seats still go empty. The issue here is that someone who has bought a GA ticket likely did a while ago before the event got converted to fully ticketed.Plenty of reports that GA had plenty of empty seats yet members were told only a reserved seat would gain entry.
The same happened on King's Birthday. Members were told there was no general admission and a reserved seat must be purchased. Come game day the general admission bays were half empty.
I like the reserved bays instead of seats idea for the MCG but we should go further for our home games at Docklands and make it opt in for members to attend.
Any amount available midweek before the game, even within those bays, to go on sale to the public.
Our members can’t complain too much given large amounts of them demonstrably aren’t using the seats anyway.
How's that going to work? You then oversell each reserved seat bay and hope too many don't show?
People aren't going to pay the same premium for that as they would for a reserved seat.

I don't buy that the majority of people who bought a general admission ticket in advance decided not to turn up.Two different GAs being conflated. Member show rate is going to be very low based on this performance...Good thing Essendon have already banked all the money from the ticket sales for next week.
My pessimism has been soundly justified. I don’t know much about our crowds but I know my teams on field situation. Sorry Pies fans, going to be a morgue next week.Good thing Essendon have already banked all the money from the ticket sales for next week.
Yes. Though, they’ve been ‘done’ for a month now. For reasons we don’t yet know, they’ve hit a wall physically / fitness wise. They did a much tougher preseason last summer, it may be showing I’m not sure. Going to be a flat affair next week.Member show rate is going to be very low based on this performance...
I can confirm they can, and they do.
Works extremely well at all Richmond home games for level two members.
