Apart from the Alice Springs match this is the lowest AFL crowd on a fine day anywhere for a very long time!
Don't forget this is the elite comp in the nation and you would like to think that Hobart people would show a bit more interest.

What worries me about the Tassie team coming in is that Australian Football in general in Tasmania has gone backwards in the last 25 years on all KPIs and that the public might not be as supportive as the State Govt and AFL thinks esp if their team is down the bottom for a number of seasons after they come into the AFL!

Disagree. TAS will get behind their team. My Tas mates reckon Nmfc are not held in any regard by locals and the locals figure the circa $3.0m they get is enough money from their State.

I believe it is both North and the Tassie govt interests to let North go and save the millions for their own team!

Another thing where is the new Tassie side going to get top flight players from so they don't languish at the bottom of the ladder for years?
I don't see any AFL teams giving up good players for a start up club like they did with GWS and GC!

North hosted GC last year in round 23 in Melbourne.

Attendance, 14196. I feel if they hosted this match in Melbourne this year, it would have been very similar. Money-wise, it is better to just play it in Tassie, especially if you get the cash for it.

It was the lowest ever at Blundstone(excluding 2021) but in a way, predictable. They didnt even have the Southern Gate open at Blundstone yesterday. (that is one of the 3 gates at the oval), so they weren't expecting anything less.

North do need a big match up down here next year. Been a lack of those for a while. A Richmond would be perfect.

I'd love Carlton to play them down there soon. I'd travel down for it.

North Melbourne finish on 578,712. This is their 23rd highest total, easily the worst ranking for any team this year. It is however an increase of 112k from last year.

Gold Coast finish on 442,307. This is their 3rd highest total ever, their best in nearly 10 years. It's an increase of 124k from last year.

Geelong finish on 877,435. This is their 3rd biggest total ever and an increase of 210k from last year.

Western Bulldogs finish on 699,467. This is their 7th highest total and an increase of 100k from last year.

It is NOT always about the money!
Its is about the AFL's reputation and to have a crowd ANYWHERE like yesterday at Hobart just is a very BAD look and makes the comp look like a mickey mouse outfit!

On a happier note the SCG looks to be almost chockers maybe low 40ks and rocking and over at the Olympic Stadium with two Sydney teams NRL teams playing there at the same time would be lucky to have 10,000.

The AFL haters on LU would be chocking on their beers with this sacrilege happening in the heartland of RL!

39,860 at Adelaide Oval.

Port Adelaide finish on 816,784. This is their highest total ever, beating its previous best by over 41k. It's an increase of 231k over last year.

Richmond finish on 1,131,144. This is their 2nd highest total ever (behind 2018), an increase of 185k over last year.

What's with ch7 and their promotion of the game in Sydney?

Sold out, buddy Franklin lap of honour, no game for 2 weeks, swans playing for a home final against a top 4 team and they run repeats of border security on 7 main instead.

Not as disgraceful as when they put the Franklin 1000 goals game on 7 mate, but nearly as bad.

Plenty of reports that Collingwood vs Melbourne will be played on the Thursday night. I wonder how much this will change the crowd.
I’m disappointed the match isn’t played at the Gabba on the Thursday night.

Back in 2018, Richmond v Hawthorn was the Thursday night qualifying final and that reached 90,000. Expect the same this time around. The thirst for finals football won’t drive too many people away.

fine. Its not about the money. Good

20LIVE: AFL: NORTH MELBOURNE V GOLD COASTFOX SPORTS 50349,000

But you are not listening. No one wanted to watch this game. Either on TV or on the ground. You can't blame the neutral Tasmanians for not caring and paying money to watch.

I think the lowest-ever TV rating is in the 30's (Wookie will correct) with last years average around 150K, for comparison.

Obviously got my yellow and black glasses on but 2nd highest total ever in a year where they finished 13 and were at one stage 3-7 is a dam good effort by the tiger Army.

Will be interesting how it holds next year if the ominous cliff fast approaches. There was a time but that long ago where 20K at the G seemed about normal.

Sydney finish on 796,783. This is their highest total ever, just beating out 2017 by 1,874. It's an increase of 126k on last year.

Melbourne finish on 907,461. This is also their highest total ever, beating 2017 by 74,271. It's an increase of 100k on last year.

41,753 is the 5th highest H&A game at the SCG.

Be interesting to see if the AFL schedule the St.Kilda/Sydney final at the docklands or the MCG. Wonder what St.Kilda fans preference will be.
Will be MCG, could make a case for it if they host GWS, but I doubt it because the MCG will be available on the Saturday
