Given the AFL has only had 10 week 1 games at the MCG in last the 7 years (excluding the covid years), you think that the AFL would want to bank the extra game at the MCG while they have the chance.

If theres 3 Vic Finals they'll be at the G. The AFL gets paid for crowd bonus targets

Be interesting to see if the AFL schedule the St.Kilda/Sydney final at the docklands or the MCG. Wonder what St.Kilda fans preference will be.

Saints should bring 40K and Swans should bring 25-30K. Will likely be the only Melbourne final that a neutral non member can snag a ticket too.

I think the contract requires 10 weeks 1-3 finals over 5 years (rather than 10 week 1 finals).

I'd say 60-65K for a St Kilda v Sydney final. The Melbourne-Sydney final last year pulled close to 80K, but QFs typically draw bigger.

I'm going to get in early and predict that 2023 will be the first home and away season to breach 7 million in aggregate attendances. You heard it here first.

True - though they'll still need a significant increase on last year's average (even with the additional round) to hit 7m. Anyway, I'll up the ante and say that the home and away average will be higher than the 2019 average (35,122).
Really put my cojones on the line, here.

...credit where its due....A lessor man would have quoted themselves!

Theirs no way St.Kilda/GWS will be at the MCG. Be lucky to get 35k
Saints should have the choice of where to host.

Carlton finish on 1,158,484. This is their highest total ever, beating 2009 by 58,275. It's a rise of 147k from last year. They are one of 6 teams to set new records this year.

GWS finish on 417,129. This is their 4th highest total and an increase of 32,238 from last year.

With GWS finally overhauling their 2022 total this confirms that every team has had an increase, the only such instance in history.

Counting all Gather Round games means the AFL ended up just under 7.5 million - 7,474,722.

Pies Dees should still draw 90k even on Thursday, will reduce it from being mid 90s tho IMO
Blues game should get 90k as well, Blues fans starved of finals and Sydney will make up 20k

Saints GWS will be interesting. Saints ceiling is probably about 40-45k. Including a few thousand GWS fans and a some neutrals I reckon it'll get to around 52-54k

They get crowd bonus payments which I think would have already kicked in with the massive crowds this year, however I doubt that would cover the 30 percent stadium hire cost given to the mcc, compared to close to 100 percent AFL profit on ticket sales at marvel.
