Is Paul Roos the worst coach the Melbourne Football Club have ever had?

Discuss...

Teaching players how to win is overrated, if we held Neeld a couple of season more JT would have had even better draft picks to work with. Mark Neeld would clearly be or current 3 time premiership coach right now.

Couldn't have been that keen since we bid on Mills.

That was a troll to the Swans, gamesmanship, making them take Mills earlier than they would have liked to, similar to what the Swans did to GWS last year.

Salem meh
JKH failure

Brayshaw meh
Stretch failure

Weid failure
King failure
Hewlett failure

Hannah meh

Baker failure
Spargo meh

Jordan failure

Laurie meh
Rosman failure

Howes looking meh

So acting like it's guaranteed success with every pick from him ain't true.

What a silly post. You need to compare not only the general strike rate of drafting which provides no guarantees, but also the pick where they were taken, so let's look at some of note...

Salem - Pick 9 Solid
JKH - Pick 40 Breakeven
Hunt - Pick 57 Amazing for the pick
Harmes - Rookie Pick 2 Amazing for the pick

Trac - Pick 2 Nailed it
Gus - Pick 3 Solid
ANB - Pick 40 Amazing for the pick
Stretch - Pick 42 Breakeven
OMac - Pick 53 Breakeven

Oliver - Pick 4 Ahead of the pack
Weid - Pick 9 Fail
Joel Smith - Rookie Pick 41 Amazing for the pick

Hannan - Pick 46 Breakeven

Spargo - Pick 29 Bordering on fail
Fritsch - Pick 31 Amazing for the pick
Petty - Pick 37 Amazing for the pick
Baker - Pick 48 Solid given the range

Sparrow - Pick 27 Solid
Jordon - Pick 33 Fail
Bedford - Pick 75 Amazing for the pick
Chandler - Rookie Pick 15 Amazing for the pick

Jackson - Pick 3 Ahead of the pack
Pickett - Pick 12 Solid given the range
Rivers - Pick 32 Amazing for the pick

Not much point going later than that as it's a bit too early to judge in most cases, and judging anyone picked past 40 as a failure is just absurd given the average strike rate for picks that late.

As if you look over that record and judge it harshly.

Spargos a premiership player how is he bordering on failure at pick 29?

Want to get even more pissed off?

Roos also said at one point that if he had to pick between them he would have taken Gus over Petracca

Also Toby Greene was originally part of the Kelly/Tyson/Salem trade but we knocked it back.

Jesus I wasn't even aware about the whole Toby Greene thing...

Imagine Toby with us.. 😭

Agree with this post mostly. But dont ever put Luke Jackson in the same category as Clayton Oliver. Thanks.

I won’t even read that article and refuse to contemplate it. Too upsetting. Prefer the bliss of the denial.

I think Toby is an amazing player but...

Toby was also being a flog off field and got into trouble (assault) and had suspension issues etc. Which is the reason why he was being possibly offered for a bag of chips.

Fantastic talent but clubs are not going risk bringing someone in like that and upset the apple cart.

Hindsight says they probably should risk it. He’s become the best footballer in the country.

How space cadet is this Harley Reid to Hawthorn trade suggestion from Jay Clark?

Pick 1 for pick 3, Grainger-Barrass & Tyler Brockman

Grainger-Barrass who can’t crack it for a game in 16th placed Hawthorn’s backline plus some fringe 22 former pick 46 kid from Perth.

Does he barrack for the Hawks or something? Cray-cray.

Isn't Brockman leaving to go home to Perth as he has a kid and wants to be around family? Lol

Wouldn't be surprised if it comes out that we have maybe some level of interest in Tim English.
So our new recruitment strategy is to take the second best ruckman each year and send them to Casey so that Gawn can get in as many AAs as possible before he retires ✅

Tim English to come to a club that REALLY values him. :sneaky:

They won't be laughing when we recruit every single ruck in the league and there's none left for anyone else
