The only option from that discussion that I didn't hate was Hawkins on a one year deal, would be a very NFL move of a champion QB going to another team for one last crack at it. However I get the feeling he's happy to finish off his career at Geelong.
I don’t think any of their comments were realistic.

It’s their role to create conversation but unless there’s a glaringly obvious fit that we can obtain, I’m still in the camp of getting to the draft and hopefully getting a KPP and a couple of good runners with foot skills.

I’m hoping we can get Tom Lynch and Charlie Dixon. With Petty, T McDonald and Brown we’d almost have the full set of KPFs who are cooked/held together with sticky tape.

The ankles of Tom Lynch, the knees of Ben Brown, the back of Tom McDonald and the feet of Harrison Petty.

What about Charlie Di-- never mind

i'd love Hawkins on a one year deal that also transitions him into being our forward coach. and how good would it be seeing big Hawkins give the crazy eyes stare to Viney, Petracca, Clarry and the like, for kicking the ball nowhere near where he actually wants it 20 times a game.

I'm kind of on the side of more skilled mids/half-forwards, and a more aggressive game plan is more important than a key forward.

Are there any gun, skilled mids who are 'gettable'?

Apparently there's 2 clubs interested in Chol and melbourne wasn't one of the ones listed. I only don't understand this club sometimes. People talk about work ethic. Well we all had that same criticism of Jesse Hogan. Now he's ripping finals apart and he's had a great season. Chol is a must have, and probably Koschitzke also. As a bare minimum.

Colby McKercher
Should absolutely be our number one target through the draft. I'd had Duursma just ahead until recently, but McKercher is exactly what we need to break up our pretty one-dimensional midfield.

He's quick, smart, a beautiful ball user and has good goal sense. The perfect option IMO – would happily package 5 & 13 or 5 & F1 to try and move up to grab him (if any clubs are interested – don't think he'll be there by the GC pick)

Dixon isn’t much of an upgrade on Tom McDonald
TMc isn't a deep forward who jumps into packs. And he hasn't shown the ability to aid JvR's run at the high ball. cDixon only has to get to the drop of the ball to help JvR and Pickett, etc.

There's a reason we won the flag in 21, and that was real height deep and TMc high creating havoc between the arcs. Plus our softer types were fully committed.

Both BBB and TMc, as all can see, are fully dusted.

We need a fillin player, who will help the young JvR and also jeffwerson whenever he gets bigger and pushes for games. But we do not want to pay up our 1st Rnd pick for a Lynch.

We need our 1st Rnd picks to bring in the next wave of talent, as we can now see the bottom of our talent pool.

Dixon is cooked, he can barely hold his body together. I can't deny the nature in which he plays contributes to that, but he gets out on the park less than Lynch
So, you want to give up on getting some of Duursma, Sanders, O'Sullivan, et al, for someone who is next to over the hill.

Lynch would require our 1st Rnd pick, plus a heap of salary cap we gain from losing TMC, BBB, Grundy etc. A backward step we will feel in about 3 - 4 years, on-field. When we fall off the cliff.

He’s my preferred and there are a few boards that have him moving down as far as 4 or 5.

He’s the second best player in the draft in my current view and would be a perfect addition to our list right now.

I don't think anybody is suggesting trading pick 5 for a 31-year-old Tom Lynch

If I had to hazard a guess, I imagine it playing out something like the below:

1 - Reid (West Coast)
2 - Walter (Gold Coast match)
3 - Curtin (North)
4 - McKercher (North compo pick)
5 - Duursma (Hawthorn)
6 - Sanders (whoever trades for Gold Coast's pick)
7 - O'Sullivan/Caddy/Watson (Melbourne)

We should be doing everything we can to get one of McKercher and Duursma IMO. There's a pretty clear top 5/6 in this draft.

Bloody Hell I want it to be Rnd 1 2024 so bad. My heads on fire.
I'd rather just spend the next six months pretending we've learnt something

Don’t we have pick 5?
