No. This unfolded in typical ridiculous trade rumour style - The McAdam stuff came out, Crom fans on twitter were then suggesting Petty, the low level social-based footy journos then suggest it (ZeroHanger), which gave it enough 'legitimacy' that it made it's way into HeraldSun or Fox or whatever.

He's contracted until 2025, a premiership player, massively rated inside the club and more crucial than ever. He's not going anywhere.

Can't really think of another high profile guy who only played a year for us.

Archer Reid could be a compromise as a 203cm forward who can obviously provide a chop out to the main ruck.

I honeslty can't think of any high profile players in their prime we've snared other than May and maybe Clark

Id be pretty happy with this, too bad AFL clubs, media and supporters are about 30 years behind on this concept. Getting two different style in mids in at a high level could completely transform us.

I will say the one thing with getting rid of Oliver in a hypothetical is ideally I'd prefer a player and a pick. Two picks aren't likely to make a huge difference for a year or two, and it is likely in that time period the best of May and Gawn will be well past us.

Paid pick 12 for him in the most compromised draft ever. GWS got 11 of the top 15 picks.

12 ended up being Sam Docherty.

This supposed little draft bounty isn’t looking like it’s actually going to let us re-stock like I was hoping it might.

With all the good ruck options this year I was thinking we might afford to throw a pick at one for the future but I think you’re right on the ruck option.

We are better off taking a KPD and couple of mids and getting a mature ruck for back up later or as a rookie.

I’d also be happy with bringing in the best 1 or 2 VFL mids that we can get late, to make sure Casey is strong again next year.

Gave nothing ? I thought he was unbelievable for us in the games he played. Far better than any of us could have hoped for id say. Shame it ended so abruptly.

If we were to trade up and end up taking 4,5 and something in the 20s for example to the draft and that's it you're putting a lot of pressure on to make sure at least 2 of the 3 turn into very good senior players. Pretty easy to think you've got a rock solid top 10 pick and it turns out to be a Sam Weideman or Jimmy Toumpas.

I don't think it will ever be forgotten because he was so high profile but in ten years time it won't be looked at as a big deal. Media types are way over the top now, but It will be looked at as a trade that didn’t work out and was moved on no big deal. The only thing would be if Grundy ended up being a star at the swans which I think is highly unlikely.

I always thought it was overstated how dirty he was with his bumps. I remember him cleaning up a Melbourne player while he was playing for Port, live or looked dirty but on replay it looked a fair bump (can't remember if it would be okay on today's standards). To me he flushed the player side on, may have cannoned in like kozzy on Smith, but was side on and didn't take the head. On this video most of them look OK even in today's climate.

I had it in my silly head that we could end up with something like picks 4 and 5 plus 2 or 3 in the teens but that’s just not happening.

Even if we got GCs pick and kept 5, we probably don’t get Curtin/McKercher/ Duursma and we move past Waston/Sanders/Caddy to take O’Sullivan - who could fall after Reid and Rogers to GC!

The NGA and compo picks are landing really awkwardly for us unfortunately and even 13 looks like being pushed out further by a compo pick for North at 11!

We’ll end up with pick 10 and 2 or 3 picks in the 20’s the way it’s going.

Saw a post on twitter saying St Kilda may pickup some of Dylan Shiels contract so that Essendon have more cap space to pay Gresham more to net St Kilda band 1 pick.

Absolute mess and trash the AFL has turned into if it happens, our pick 13 will be pick 25 at this rate.
